Welcome, you may be right at home here, this is a good bunch of people who love Zs! I have one of the early black gelcoat bodies from ALpha One on a '77 with an '82 Turbo engine, and am pretty serious about it as well, here are a few pictures of my progress-be sure to post yours!
  2. Petersons Museum doesn't have one...and they profess to have everything that changed the car market through time... Will
  3. If you really want to laugh, come visit my local DMV:eek: ! Enrique, Most peolpe forget the silent phrase that is after the "HELP you" in that statement, it actually reads: "Trust me, I'm from the IRS, and I'm here to HELP you 'give most of your hard earned money to us, and in return get a horrible headache with no known cure'!" Will
  4. I've not seen one, and made my own years ago by scanning one I borrowed and using the copy and paste method in an old version of photoshop. One of the craft stores sells a rolling perforator tool, finding the right paper finish wasn't too hard, I used a glue stick(they had just come out) to put it on the glass.
  5. I spent a couple of hours at our local DMV office recently, and the boobs working there were using computers-that blows out your theoryROFL ! WIll
  6. Where do you spend most of the time you spend here!
  7. A pure copper gasket with stainless liners for the piston area is available and would mean not wasting another thought on a headgasket-they are about $100 delivered. Will

I thought it was going to be in or about DAYTONA? Will
  12. It looks like Barbour sold the Crown kit-evidence cast into the plenum. Great find Carl!! Will
  13. I bought the ones I couldn't find from the dealer, but in many cases the finish has gone from golden cadmium to tin silver. Will
  14. Ed, In going through my literature, the pieces in the auction seem to be part of a kit sold by **** Barbour Parts and Accessories For Datsun Z. Check out the attatched scan from their catalog, some of the pieces pictured are dead ringers. Will Yikes-the automated censor software found his first name was pornographic! If you aren't sure what is was, it is a four letter word that begins with "Di" and ends with "ck"!

Rick apologiZing dat soon? why not wait a bit! Will
  16. I also pull good condition harware from other Datsun/Nissans on every trip to the pick and pull-generally the hardware inside the car or under trim is in great shape. WIll
  17. Ed, I am sure it is possable, but I question the ability of the single carb to feed a forced induction engine that in normal aspiration needs two! Since there is no identification on the carb/jetting, it could work if they were setup right, but I would hate to have the only way of finding out be sacrificing a set of pistons or more... Putting something like this together would not be too difficult-even adapting a zx dizzy isnt much more involved than modifing one to work on a 240Z. Using the complete exhaust system from a ZX turbo, from the manifold up to to the cat, would take care of the outgoing. Fabricating a "Y" tube to go from the outlet of the turbo to the current carbs(rejetted) would be the most difficult part, but even with what is in the auction, you still have to fabricate some form of air filter and plumbing to connect it to the turbo. After everything was fabbed up, you would have a tuning headache to deal with, but doing the math with a known compressor map and known jets would be easier than the unknowns in the auction. I have a good deal of info on turbocharging through a carb(carbs), and a source for more. WIll

He is only selling it because it is not suitable for polishing, powder coating, or his use on a car. I have to believe if it was worth keeping, he would. Do a search on bad ebay sellers, there is more info on this seller to consider. Will
  21. Congratulations! I gotta agree with Alfadog-pictures with your local ambiance will be too much! I would love to see the double takes you are going to get on every drive! WIll
  22. Carl, You left off D: You are an intelligent individual. You see the Snake ahead, but your are not really sure what it is. So you and your Girlfriend approach for a closer look. As you get closer you hear the Snake shaking it's Rattle. NOW you realize your dealing with a Rattle Snake. Out of respect for the courteous warning of its own fear from the snake, you route your path out of danger range, but consider the good fortune of this encounter with another of Gods creatures, and you all go about your way no worse from the encounter, and thankful for watching Animal Planet between the Florida showers that prevent outside work on the Z.
  23. Posting a picture will get a better answer! Maybe even an offer or two... Will
  24. That does not look too horrible. If you can't poke through in but a few places, I would drop the tank (to evaluate the underside) and use the POR trunk repair kit-if you aren't after a show winning finish on the repair. http://www.por15.com/PRODUCTS/COMPLETEKITS/FLOORPANTRUNKREPAIR/tabid/105/Default.aspx To get the best looking repair the most effective answer would be tub replacement-because you would replacing the entire structure, the repair could easily be made invisible.
