Doors '76-'78 because of the lock mechanisms Fenders '70-'78 Will
  2. Go to a real bonafied paint and body store-forget Autozone, Cragens, Kmart, Walmart, find the Napa Paint store, the Martin Senior dealer, The Dupont AutoColor Store or the or the like. Check the (ahem) phonebook(if you can find one) under automotive paint, or paint, automotive depending on who put together your phone book. Will
  3. only six pages ago.... I went looking for the book last night, It is about $150-$160 when I could find it. Will
  4. The only thing I can think of is compound used to repair the flexible bumpers and body parts. It takes paint well, and has some "give". Will
  5. Did you try a google lookup of the address/person? If the buy was though an auction, you can get contact info through the auction service, or maybe the payment service. You can also call the Police\Sherrifs department local to the seller, and send them a copy of all the papaerwork you have, and they may well take care of the situation. I am not sure how a non US resident would rate, but most any problem with theft and commerce that crosses state lines is a felony, and that means the posability of time in the "big house". I have used this very grease to get some individuals who were reluctant to fulfill the terms of their own auctions to satisfy the terms they set up Nothing says "I'm not taking your sh!t" like a visit from local law enforcement with complete documentation of a " problem" and the ability to incarcerate at any point! 6. -It has lots of pretty pictures too...and is only $13 and change from Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/How-Restore-Your-Datsun-Z-Car/dp/1931128022/sr=8-2/qid=1157933850/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-9640785-9786268?ie=UTF8&s=books Will
  7. I think the firmness of the urethane inthe MB has made the flex move, and your noises are coming from the new flex. If you get under the car(pull one side up on a curb) and have someone rock, it in addition to getting sand and road grit in your eyes, you will probably find the the noisy joint. Will
  8. Did ypu grease all surfaces of the bushing? There should be silicone grease inside and outside the bushing.. I grease the bushing and what ever it touches(outer walls and inner hardware). Will
  9. Yep, Mike is dead on! A couple more suggestions: keep a spray bottle of water handy to keep the paste damp if you work the entire windshield, you can get out rock abrasions, hard water stains, and pretty much what ever gets stuck on glass. If you are polishing the windshield on the car, remove the wiper blades before you start- they will pick up the abrasive and can put haze back in the glass the next time it rains! Thoroughly clean and dry the glass several times before you put them back on. The left over glass grindings and abraisive are not what you want left on the shiney parts of your car! I wash the car even after cleaning the glass, the abraisive slury occasionally gets thrown by the felt wheel. Will
  10. Aren't those brackets almost(if not) identical to the factory brackets that came in the 280Z? Will
  11. I built a box I could ship a couple in. I lined the potential contact points with 2" of foam board, half filled it with packing peanuts, put the windshield, wrapped in plastic, in it, put a towel over the glass, backfilled the box and put a top on it. I also store the new gaskets installes on the glass so that they will not shrink out of fit. It sounds like a bunch to do, but the box will completely protect three safely, and works out for other large part storage when not in use. Will
  12. Post them here! http://www.classiczcars.com/classifieds/index.php Will
  13. Welcome! Your attatchment is to a car that was in your family before you were born-what stories it could tell! My first Z was a DN-305 Sky Blue Metalic) '76 2+2! I did more things in that car...I put that car more places it should never have gone, and I enjoyed and loved that car. I woke up stupid one day and let it go... Will
  14. Probably has to do with needing to find and use the hazard lights in almost every emergency which could render your car a hazard, and needing the rear defogger as a convenience. Will

  21. The legs actually are there to hold the ring to the lock, place the ring on the lock and look for the scratches where it was removed. the ring is to hide the edges of the hole in the dash covering. Will
  22. It still has a hold of the car, I am hoping to finish the last of the body work on the next two weeks and get some paint on her shortly after that-life shure pushes car projects around! Will

  25. Some more things to think about. 1) if you bought it, do you have a place to store it and work on it-few people like having a dassassemblend car in plain site in their neighborhood, and even fewer will not get bent out of shape when work is done on the car that allows the wonderfull smell of old gas to waft through the same space their nose occupies, or sanding/grinding noises to fall upon their ears. If it would be stored at your house, covennants, and ordinances may have some interest is the situation. 2) Do you have the time to devote to a project of this size. It sat a year and a half with him, thoroughy evaluate it before you end up with someone elses yard art. 3) Do you have the avaiable money to take care of this. By the time you finish, you probably could have bought a good running z and installed a similar body kit for about the same money-the difference would be in the wheels, and in the ability to drive the car as you work on it(excitement/motivation is much stronger when you can drive a car around). 4) Anybody who has to tell you to trust him twice in an ad must have something that makes him feel people don't trust him. Hmmmm. 5) Tire supply/costs at the Tire Rack.com I found only one tire 345 size tire to fit the rear at $477 each and no 285 series tires for the front. The seller says that that size wheel is not made anymore, that will limit you to racing tires. This means you may have to replace the wheels anyway! Will
