  1. Did you know you can start any stock and ready to drive 240Z and 260Z with a quarter? Did you know once you have it running, you can shut it off by pulling one wire from any of three places? Did you know the seats and the exterior door handles were commonly swapped left to right to correct wear issues? Did you know that The drive train for every S30 was installed in the car from the bottom by Nissan? Did you know that a S30 restored 100% to factory specs is NOT legally driveable on public roads in the USA? Did you now the Nissan Zcar restoration program was really a modification program? Did you know that many series one specific 240Z parts are one offs? Did you know that the 260Z is not an S30, but even Nissan considered it one? Did you know the 260Z has a factory installed emergency starter button under the hood? Will
  2. Will do, and look folward to it! I plan to get up there fairly soon, within the next 30 days or so, but I will be in a Volvo, not a Z(though that road from Maggie Valey to Cherokee is thrilling in a Volvo too!) Will
  3. Our plans got dumped at the last minute, so the trip was postponed, re schedule tba... I know how to get around up there, not how to give directions-a follow me sort of thing...I've been going to Waynesville/Maggie Valley since the milisecond I was a two celled organism! Will
  4. Does it happen only in one gear(wind out the lower on to see if it still happens, or under drive the next one up for the same reason) if it one gear, pretty obvious as to the cause, if in each of the three, still not too hard to figure. Here is some help... Will
  5. That's not funny because very few cars still have them, and those people that want them will pay good money for one in great shape, ready to bolt on! I have bought several parts cars that had them, and sold just that one part for more than I paid for the whole car...that's money, not funnyROFL ! Will
  6. I would check all of the cushioned mounts for the diffy/rear suspension, and even verify the motor mounts, sounds like a couple of those are at the very least contributing to another problem. Because they are all external to the drive train, they will be relatively easy to check, without completely disabling the car-not that you should be driving it as it is... Verify that the vibration is only present under power. coast at 50mpg and put her in neutral, if the vibration does not stop, check your tires for a telltale wear pattern. If the vibration stops, you have driveline issues. Will
  7. The road from Maggie Valley to Cherokee is hard to beat too, Or is that the the Apl pkwy? Will
  8. HybridZ would be your best bet, they do more of that stuf there than we do here. Will
  9. Any news??? Will
  10. Not that My friend Bill would do such a thing-since he lost his hat! Will
  11. How Cool? 240Z Cool! Now that's cool! Will
  12. By your logic, batteries, starters, alternators and body sheet metal, hoses, spark plugs, plug wires, should only be bought from them too-I don't mind paying for expertise, but how much expertise does it take to install the commonly available parts-there is a reason they are commonly available, and generally it is either they do not require special skills or tools to install, or they are way overpriced. check the prices on parts that are not NLA from the Dealer and the other vendors, more often than not they dealer is cheeper for the same part.(especially when you add in shipping. This forum is a complete and inexhaustable source of free advice. If a vendor goes out because of not being competitive, that is the vendors fault. Either they made a bad decision to have market share be disproportionally valuable relative to profittability, or they misread the market. How much advice does MSA or VB/BD give on most widely available parts once they are sold. I will agree that a vendor should be used if you are calling for information before you buy, and that you should not expect advice on something you didn't buy from them, but I don't believe the price of my part should include paying for the question Bill Ramsey might ask on an airdam he got off a parts car that held a reciept from MSA for. That is not a good argument for having higher prices. I want to get what I pay for, not give it to someone else! I also would rather Charley Osborne get more profitt from selling me a set of his sheet metal than any of the resellers. Will
  13. HUGE HONKIN' BUCK$$$ for a piece of 30ish year old stamped steel! Ebay 10 day ending on a Sunday Night! probably $100-200 depending on photos, shipping, and the ad. Will
  14. Actually you have the date right, but with the dateline, it was actually yesterday in Japan! I sent my birthday wish to him. Will
  15. My opinion on pricing is that given the same level of quality, cheeper is better. Every store has inventory control, they can quit stocking a part that does not sell at the price they want to sell it at, and still cary those that do. MSA/VB/BD are high on somethings because of the convenience factor-most people will order from a one stop shopping place if they can rather than look for a better price. When I ordered $3000 worth of Z parts last year, I oredered from MSA, VB/BD, ebay/private party and Zedd Findings/Tabco, based on who had the best price on the same item. Ebay/Private Party won out for mosty parts that were not available anywhere else, MSA won out for some things and VB/BD won out for some things based on the total including shipping. Zed Findings/Tabco won out where their total was better. I supported the same Z suppliers, and got the best deals on what they offered. I saved almost $800 from buying everything from MSA, or VB/BD(when they carried the same products). I spent an extra two hours comparing prices and made three extra phone toll free calls to order to save $400 an hour! from what convenience ordering would have cost. My bushing kit came from Ebay and was about $140 with shipping from Miami. I don't feel bad about shopping prices, I feel bad about paying too much for convenience. Will
  16. Are you talking about the splash pan? Will
  17. A car in a collection isn't driven every day, one that is is a daily driver, and that is what conventional auto insurance is for... Collector insurance is for cars that spend more time in a garage, storage unit, or safely on display than driven or parked in harms way. Will
  18. And how! Will
  19. Yep, all three have pretty little black seals to cushion the paint and seal the opening. Will
  20. Any Success in finding a company to reproduce these? Will
  21. The only real problem you have is recognizing and accepting that the "if" will be a "when". Will
