I do suspect if you want Enrique, Beandip and others to show, have Sydney Moon come down for a photo shoot/signing(Drooling) at the end of the weekend for those who truely participated-there would be a fight for who was first in line...but they would be there with out the free beer, food, and hooters babes...Hell, I might take the trip...You would probably fill up a local hotel with admirers...uh, help... Save TopGear the BBC TV Program
I didn't think you were! I agree, maybe the market that was bought and completely changed left room for the original market again...if the non compete clauses aren't so general as to be overly frightening-"stay off TV or I'll sue you to death and/or oblivion..." Maybe another guy with a similar but different idea... One thing about it, There is always the Internet..the new public access superhighway... Will

Only to those of us that care about a sport. Investors generally do not, they care about the money to be made from the sport-the sport is only important to keep the money flowing-anything other than that is secondary or purely trivial. That is why you never see a football team allowed to get ALL of the best players. Who would want to pay see a team beat all comers with no trouble more than once? If you are 100% certian of the outcome, will you spend the afternoon and the price of admission watching something with as much entertainment value as a working traffic light? Not me. To motivate an investor, threaten his income stream-anything else is just noise to them. WIll

Off to make a call-Thanks for the info...I haven't been able to find appropriate washers anywhere! Will

feed me your ideas what would you do
You would probably get more suggestions(pertinant ones anyway) at HybridZ. Most of the folks here are more into stock, or slight external engine modification than mixing and matching internals to get a HybridZ. Will

carbon fiber
I can understand changing the appearance of a new car with several examples of the same car in every parking lot if not at every stoplight, but when you will have the only S30 Z for miles or hundreds of miles in most instances-why? Spend the money on actual performance parts, not what amounts to pre-formed paint. Anybody can add carbon fiber covers or replacement parts, but there are very few NOS factory replacement interior parts-if you want the car to look rare, find and install the Rare NOS parts, your car will be one of the few with out a worn interior, instead of one of the many with carbon fiber used as paint, and not to augment performance by lowering weight on structural assemblies, or required body panels. This is only my opinion, and the car is yours to do with as you please, but you did openly ask for opinions. Personally I would not want to make a zcar look like it has any more in common with any ricer mobile than necessary. If the point is to stand out and your car is rare in your town anyway, I'd say carbon fiber would only serve to make it look more like the cars that are common. Will

Need Advice
Unless that car is in great shape, that seems high. Since it is across the country, why not get a member who is local to the car to check it out for you? Will

oh my god!!!!!!!!
If you look at the factory instructions, they have been followed... I would have thought staggered holes on either side of the center line would have limited the loss of rigidity, but I guess the loss is simply not and issue becuase of the "flanges" left on either side of the hole. Will

"Original Datsun 240Z Hood Scoop. $250.00 OBO. Probably only a few hundred ever made. This is a very rare dealer option item. Ideal for the Z Car restorer or purist. It was originally fiberglassed to a hood so the edges where it was attached are a little rough. Nothing that will prevent it looking perfect after remounting." Nothing but time and energy! First, it is a copy-not an original. There is no evidence of studs ever having been on the piece in the photographs. Factory pieces were designed to be bolt on so that the hood would not need to be refinished. The bolts would have been used to secure the hood even if it were to be bonded. the Second, it probably has other issues from the forced removal, As a copy, it wasn't a $250 piece to begin with, it certianly isn't one after being peeled off a hood to which it was permanently bonded.. Third, small market for the perfect pieces means even smaller market for damaged ones. Fourth, a copy of a copy never works out as close as a copy of an original. WIll

Making Mp3 **** for car stereo
I worked at a recording studio for a couple of years-I learned what to listen for, and what not to listen to...I must admit the Pioneer Centrex I had for my sterio before starting work there just didn't cut it after a few days... I make copies of my cds for the vehicles as well-originals stay in the house. I also have broad musical tatses, I must admit, my digital cable spends as more time on the music only channels than it does actually showing a show, with 45 unique programming music channels just about anyone can find what ever type of music they want. Throw in the towel?
first, if it in't rewarding to clean and fix, take an extended break and regroup, figure out if it was and will be fun. look at some of the gallerys here, the before and after, look through the archives and find the stories of start to frustration to finish-when the taks looks insurmountable, norrow your focus. look at what you corrected, and how it made you feel. work on a small part of the big picture, and take the win when that part is right! Move to the next one and do the same thing, let the momentum from a success fuel your success on the next part. If you are in this for the long haul, figure out if matching numbers is important to you or not. I would suggest getting a second engine. If matching numbers is important to you, swap the engines to keep the car on the road while you straighten out the original engine, if it isn't straighten out the new engine and install it when it is ready. Will On a side note, I have a 2003 Dodge Quad cab 1500 that I bought new in 04, I now have 21043 miles on it, and it has had more stupid issues than any of my 30 year old Zs have had. Sensors have gone bad repeatedly, the A/C had to be entirely replaced, the truck cuts off when sitting at idle when the AC compressor cuts off, and the dealer can't figure it out because there is no code in the ECM to tell them what is happening. On my 2001 Volvo(bought new in 2001) the rubber in the front shock mounts seporated from their imbedded hardware after 20,000 miles-I have never had or heard of that happening in an S30. If these were Zs, I would have had the issues resolved in an afternoon, with the Volvo it took a week(had to schedule an apointment) with the truck, It has been 5 weeks as of Friday. The "Master Technician" at the Dodoge Dealership can't seem to wipe his nose with out the ECM giving him a code that tells him he needs to. The point is new cars break too, and having to rely on a dealer means waiting for a repair, or a dumb look-both are more than trying on my patience. If I didn't need the features of the other vehicles, I would have stuck to driving S30s. WIll

Making Mp3 **** for car stereo
I can understand the variety/capacity issue, but I can hear the difference in the equipment I have listened to-granted, even the headphones were reasonably good(no earbuds). I usually watch a movie/listen to a cd when I am in or through an airport-my laptop dosen't skip easily. Elsewhere, for the quality, I would just find an FM station that plays "my kind" of music and listen to that, instead of having the investment in time(and money?) to search out, audtion, and download 1000 songs that would (at least in my case) play on the radio anyway. I would rather have control over what plays when I have more enjoyment from how it sounds. Not that an Ipod isn't a valuable addition to the lifestyles of a great many people, but that technology is just not up to my audio standard yet-call me spoiled.... Will

What would you like to add to your S30?
Hey Rick, we know that you haven't told "she who must be obeyed" about this, she would have said "bring me some froth and a raza and I'll cure what ails ya!"ROFL  :stupid: Will

what a day...
Yes, the $2 part that takes three weeks to get, that you need and have to wait for because you were wearing blinders to get the job done that allowed you to miss the fact that you put the $2 part on the saddle of the floor jack that is now holding the car up so that you can replace the $2 part that you found when you put the car back on the ground, after waiting three weeks for the $2 part, is the stuf a three year restoration is made of...not that one of these small setbacks has ever happened to me...
