  1. Pull the clip out from the arm, and pull the assembly from the arm. the end of the arn has a peg on it that serves as an attatchment point for the clip. Will
  2. Welcome! You kept the question from being stupid by asking it! You can replace just the inserts, or the entire blade assembly. If your car has double wire frames holding the inserts, then they are original, and I would keep them(or at least save them). At one end of the inserts there should small clip, if you squeeze it, the entire inset should pull free-however, to make things easier on you, remove the assembly where it meets the arm by flexing the clip that holds the assembly to the arm. In the underside there is a spring loaded lever, pry it out slightly, and the arm will seporate, and you can work on replacing the insert in a place that is more comfortable and less likely to cause a paint issue if you slip and you become familiar with the process. It isn't difficult, it is just unfamiliar. Will
  3. Pm me your address, I have one I cut out of a dash and let heat remove for me. I can send the sticker, and the recess it came out of... Will
  4. I do not know enough to be 100% sure but according to Nissans own records, the USA is the ONLY country that ever got a car called a 280Z. But in checking the records I have, they are pre S130... chitto hitochigae my appologies! Will
  5. The 280Z IS an S30, the 280ZX ( a completely different car:eek: ) is an S130. Both the 280Z and the 280ZX had 2.8liter engines and all of the S30s and S130s are essentially drive train interchangeable:love:. WIll
  6. Considering the fact that it was called "a great car to restore", the car probably never saw 165mph, or a "4 wheel independent pozzitraction suspension", A car seriously modified into a 165mph race carwould probably not be a great car to restore because of the modifications involved. Add to that a distinct lack of pictures, and the fact that the car has all of the stuff a racer would have gotten rid of, and none of the stuf a racer would have added (wide/large wheels, harness, roll cage, large open exhaust, etc...), and the fact that the racing parts offered by Nissan Comp(5speed and rear end) in 1973 were not designed for that kind of speed, and I think a pattern forms here. The car may well have been used as a pace car, and the plaque can attest to that, but the rest of the "mods" and history were at best probably a father to son story...Granted the car could have been changed back along the way, but that is not in the story presented in the ad. WIll
  7. Worse yet, he missed the paper on purpose-not realizing what is spot was made of:stupid: Will
  8. Why are you specifying a T5? They are stronger, but they shift like a truck transmission, unless you are after a replacement for a T5 or have big power, I would think you would be happier with one of the other 5 speeds out of a Z or ZX. Will All of these are listed as T5, but call to be sure. 1983 Transmission Nissan 280 ZX 2.8,5SPD 6G0394 $550 PRP - Pick A Part, Albany - PAR Member USA-OR(Albany) E-mail 1-800-927-5855 1983 Transmission Nissan 280 ZX FM $450 A & R Auto Parts USA-DC(Washington) E-mail 1-800-838-8333 1983 Transmission Nissan 280 ZX EM37443 MISC $450 A-1 Auto Salvage USA-NM(Kirtland) E-mail 1-505-325-1994 1982 Transmission Nissan 280 ZX 141,000 A3844 $400 K & K Motors, Inc. 9. Welcome! Don't forget www.tabco.com(where a lot of the small repair panels are made, and your local dealer, much of the sheetmetal is still available, and when you consider the shipping charges-at a bargain! Will
  10. Stephen, I agree with you completely, they took a great car, put ugly all over it, and called it a Z! The mechanicals are Zesque, the appearance is all frog! The engineers were "spot on", the designer made a spot! Will
  11. Eiji is a good guy to converse with and to buy from. He is a true enthusiast, and not some guy selling parts, he wants to help the hobby on both sides of the pond and make a little money doing it! With the scarcity of JDM sources in the USA it is good to have a couple. Eiji has been doing this in the background for years, and has only recently come out with his website and great ideas. I have bought parts from him from Ebay several times over several years, and didn't connect the dots in time to meet him in person earlier this year when I spent a week in the Va/DC area. Hopefully next years trip will remedy that, but I WILL shake his hand by the middle of October next year. Hopefully, between Allens ex roommate, and Eiji, we can get some great parts! WIll
  12. Ask a young person if it is related to a 240Z and the answer you get most often will absolutly make my point! Will
  13. The first gen 300 Had interior and electrical pieces that were lifted right out of the 280ZX. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that Nissan did one thing, and we have no way of knowing with any degree of certianty that what they did had better or worse performance than what they could have done. I see no "nod", I see the designers middle finger! Will having said that it is obvious I need to let this go... Will
  14. If there are vents on the bottom of your laptop, be sure that you ahve open airflow to them when your cushion is in place, other wise you will have a overheating situation to deal with. WIll
  15. The only reaZon is the advertising ploys used. the car was touted as a direct descendandt, not a completely new direction. If you want to build on something in the past, and borrow from its presentation(and its name), make it apparent with an abundance of readily recognizeable styling ques, not words from an ad. You don't test drive an ad. You don't visualize an ad sitting in the garage, at the curb, or being marveled at by the ladies. You do all of those things with a car. The visual relationhip between the 240Z and 350Z is like that of a pure blood dingo(THE DNA verified biological ancestor of all modern Dogs, and thus the only true pure breed) and an Afgan Hound. The blood line has been thined to the point that resemblance is almost gone. While most owners with dogs entered in the Westminister Kennel Club think of the dingo as some low life misfit of the dogworld, and Nissan thinks Advertising the lineage of the 350Z as the 240Z is connnection enough. The 350Z shares one word with the 240Z, Nissan, but even Nissan is totally different. It is only a name recognition game. WIll
  16. COme on RIck, can;t you see me watching it ten times before showing it to the tot so I could get my grins and giggles? Corse I smiled... Will
  17. I just don't see any more connection between a 350Z and an S30 than I do an Audi TT and an S30, though from the side, and considered completely by itself, the new bump on the hood does resemble the bulge on an S30s hood. Chris, I don't interpret anything on a 350 as reminding me of an S30 as much as it reminds me of a Murano-and I gotta say nothing on a Murano reminds me of a S30! Granted I don't have your design training, and I am not in a related business, but if the styling interpretation grade is made on the same scale with the new Mustang, Nissans designers failed miserably. Anytime I can strip the badges and scripts of a pair of cars and not see the lineage development, and stump a younger car guy what they might be,(as in related) there is no continuity of design to bear witness to the "relationship."
  18. All of them are set up to bolt on, but they can be bonded. "Best" depends on what you are after, radiator cooling, ground effects, visual appeal... MSA, Black Dragon(that name still gets me...), and other vendors have pics of the most common ones, others can be found at SHowcarparts.com, and in our Archives. I am partial to both the BRE SPook, and the one on my red car in my gallery. Most are made of fiberglass or urethane, an impact on a carbon fiber version might well damage the sheetmetal it was bolted to... Will

  22. Try a radiator shop, generally they can boil the tank and add a coating to the inside, or get a kit from por15.com and DIY! lots of examples in the archives here! Will
  23. He is right! You did modify it, but that isn't a bad thing. Restoration is by definition putting it back the way it was-with no modification. A truely restored early car is almost always worth more than a modified one. But this is your car, and untill it is to be sold, your value is the only one that matters. WIll
  24. A polarized lens(concentricly not linearly polarized) cancels virtually any glare problem with out being affected by a focusing system that spins the lens. I have one on my video camera, and it lets me film interiors through windows regardless of reflections on the glass. Will
  25. Is it me or are his rear tires the most narrow that would actually stay on those rims? I understand helping clearance, but that almost looks unsafe. I don't think tires are designed to have that stress geometry. WIll
