  1. So far: The upgrade harnes: 1) Saves fuses and fuse box-maybe even the car! 2) Saves headlight switch 3) Makes the lights brighter-sends current to them istead of loosing it to heating old wires l 4) leaves more CURRENT for other circuits like wipers, blower, or radio, improving theIr performance as well. I bought one of the first ones for just two of those reasons! Will
  2. If the parts are in good shape, parting it out will do two good things for you, 1) It will get your money back! 2) It will teach you more about Zcars! put what ever doesn't sell back in the goobers yard! Will
  3. Arne has a used car site! Seriously, if you just want to get rid of it dump it back in his yard-and take all four wheels with you! Will
  4. I'm in the same boat, and will be working on molds for the insulators soon, I am in the process of working out the brackets in stainless steel. Will
  5. Tour phone call beat me to it-Congrats! Will
  6. Chris, ROFL I have just stopped laughing enough to type-well doggie! Better make time for cruising that grocery store at shift change time:stupid: Will PS, I said I would make the grommet if no one els got in the ring-but I don't even want to know about the PUNishment you give yours!
  7. Put me down for one. Will
  8. The NOS hubcaps I checked with were "D" type. Jim, I don't know what to tell you, but some time next week I am going to take all three pieces and a later hubcap to the PPG store here and get them read by their machine-all are new old stock and have been in the box since first packaged by Nissan. If the Prophet II spectrometer at PPG is convinced they are all the same color, I am too. Maybe this is an example of Nissan using what was available when what was called for was not? Will
  9. I have an entire car that has all of it. schedule a visit, drive down, take it out and it is yours. PS, do you know The Rentz family in Doe Run?
  10. Both look really good! Nice choice and nice Job! Will
  11. I posted a wiring diagram in an earlier thread, these were used in the 280ZX and Maximas, among others. I'll try to find the thread amd post a link. Will
  12. Mckrack, I compaired all three of those areas on my first Z restoration more than 18 years ago, and I have always believed they were the same-I thought I had asked AJ at one time... So this afternoon I asked AJ about the color differences and he said Nissan supplied and called for only one color for touchup of all of the gray metalic trim on the car-and if they were painted different colors originally, it was not in the original parts specification from Nissan. As we were talking, He pulled out a box of NOS hubcaps(hopefully soon to be mine!) compared them to my NOS taillight panel, and NOS Front Grill, and an NOS hubcap-all stored in the red and blue striped Nissan Motor boxes since purchased new more than 25 years ago-I doubt more than a few seconds of sun light-all three are the same color and texture. Maybe the difference you are talking about is due to the color of the substrate being painted-much like painting a car a over light vs dark primer-same paint two slightly different hues. Painting over chrome plate would look different, and change color faster than painting over red primer. I have known AJ for more than 20 years, and all of that time I have considered him a true Z expert, When I have asked him something he didn't know, he has always told me what he suspected, and labeled his answer appropriately. He was certian of this answer, and the direct comparason of his parts to mine supported his answer. I don't want you to have the possability of being given incorrect information because fo your recent introduction to the Z, and your posted lack of a Z mentor. I have tried to help provide better information than the normal NEWbie would have access to because your serious involvement and posted details show that you are not the typical NEWby, and are clearly working on a thorough restoration and not a driver. I would hate to have you put the time and effort you seem to be investing in your car to find out more than your floors were affected by someone who is less than s professional. With the level of detail you are putting into your car, I can't wait to see it at Daytona-if you sign up-or maybe on a side trip if you don't. I would just hate to see you lose points or piece of mind because of misinformation(even if it is unintentional.) Will PS, AJ is only human, and could be mistaken, but I think the forgotten source of information is not as accurate as it has lead you to believe. I'll watch for your signup for Daytona, and look folward to shaking your hand and seeing your car! I also noticed on older hubcaps the paint is very smooth-probably due to the buffing effect of spinning at healthy speeds in a constant flow of dust, and the scrubbing they got to clean brake dust off them that the grill and the taillight panels hardly ever required.
  13. Welcome! Great Project to share with the youngsters(and a built in excuse to get three more Zs-can't leave the girl out!) Will
  14. I think you have pictured the inner shift boot(seals the transmission tunnel) and not the appearance piece. The gromet holds the top of the boot on the shifter lever. WIll
  15. Posting first means... 27385-e4100 clock assy 27390-e4100 clock Assy 27395-E4100 Oscillator Assy 68905-E4100 MASK-clock aperture (Blanking plate. Will
  16. McKrack, Where did you find that it is only an assumption that the colors are the same. Everything I have found says they are. I am asking because in more than 20 years of Z immersion, I have never found it posted anywhere but your posts that they are different. I am not trying to be argumentative, just asking you to share the source of information you found in four months that I haven't found in more than 20 years. Will
  17. His work is top notch, and I will be tapping him for some niceties on my car as soon as I nail down a few more details. If no one has taken care of the grommit after Daytona, I will take care of it because I am going to need one too. Will
  18. And all this time I thought it was because Chris W. came up with something else that he wanted autographed! Only Mr. K knows for sure! Will
  19. I have several sets, Will

  21. I am registered , hotel is booked(Sun-Sat), hope to see everyone there! Will
  22. Sav! Gonna give Brizvegas a captain cook, huh? Are you driving the dunny or saying in just a pub? Which ever, have a rip snorter, and remember you said you wanted to stay a week, nothing worse than getting rotten the first day and getting sprung! WIll
  23. Terry, Yes it is Paul, I'm waiting to hear back from him. Will
  24. Mckrack, I wasn't trying to be mean to you in plainy saying they weren't installed right-If I had paid a professional to put them in and had that issue the car would going be right back to the guy, and he would be taking care of the entire situation his unprofessional work caused. I was just saying a professional would have made sure the floors were right before they left the shop-after all, his reputation is at stake. A typical hobiest wouldn't know to check his work with weight or levels-that is a difference between welding only one set of floors and having the experience of doing a couple in complete restorations. Looks can be decieving without experience-in this case, they were. You said the PO had the floors done, please don't take my fair evaluation of the work he had done as an attack on you-it was only ment to alert you that there may be other things in your car that were done similarly. If you are as anal about your car as a I am about mine, finding and correcting them will give you piece of mind. I appologize, I didn't mean to be offensive with my comments. Will
  25. I sent all kinds of questions to the seller last night-we will see what happens-Any parts I get will be going in the examples to reproduce for posterity bin-and that bin will go into production in January of next year! Will
