Understanding Car Show rules
Tomohawk, I got the impression (evidently incorrectly), from your posts that you wanted it to be judged in one of the other classes. Obviously I misunderstood... Will

Understanding Car Show rules
Tomohawk, I have reread your posts, and I think the required equipment would all be covered easily in any of the Modified classes with out loosing any points(as long as your installs are excellent). You have a custom console and shifter, sunvisors, as well as a camera mount and light on your rearview mirror-your car fits in the modified categories. The stock class should have no allowances for updating to current code or driver requirement as the cars are supposed to be time capsules. There shold be a difference between a driver and a truely stock car. Most gold medallion class winners are hardly driven-None have been daily transportation in the immediate time frame prior to being judged in a show. If you don't want your car in the daily driver class, give it a good cleaning and enter it in one of the modified classes! Will

Understanding Car Show rules
Excellent info-several things I had no clue to consider-presence on or ommission from the list... My car won't really look all that modified-most of my efforts are lending toward that goal. l go back through my working copy of the lists... Arne, I am putting off finishing the car until a month or two before the show simply so I won't succumb to the temptation to drive everywhere! After the show the car will be driven and thoroughly enjoyed, and though the trailer may be where she comes to rest at night(My one car garage is for the works in progress), it will be more of a Mobile home for her-AW Sh!t she will be queen of a trailer park... Rusted out floor pans
If I had known, I would have stopped by, I went to the Studebaker show and swap meet in Charleston today-the car turn out was a dissappointment. I have a spare set of the seat mounts that came with my floor pans-from Charley Osborne. Will

How do you remove the %$#!! Glove Box?
VERY CAREFULLY! You actually have to squish it to get it out, the whole thing is carefully flexed inward(top to bottom and bottom to top) and cautiously and gently worked out-or snatch the sucker out and buy a new one(MikeW has made a heck of a replica!) He might well have one available! Will

Understanding Car Show rules
I simply want to see what will count as a Modification to be sure I don't exceed 25-I am not worried about deductions. With EVERYTHING counted as a mod, I have 29, and I have more up my sleeve! My thought is that some of what I am counting may not be counted, If I know for sure I can add more to the mix! As to the Bus fare-I would probably send you a buddy pass instead and pick your brain to the point you would want to go back to work! Unfortunately, everything is still in boxes! Almost 90% of what I have taken off is restored or has been replaced with NOS and ready to be put back, but the sheet metal has hardly been touched(other than all of the rust has been cut out and new panels welded in.) Will Ps thanks for your thoughts Kats- the sticker story you posted told me alot as well! Will

Understanding Car Show rules
I went throught the rules and was left with three areas of questions as they relate to the Street Modified and Nissan Modified classes. Please assume all parts in question to be new old stock-or equivalent in condition. 1) Though changing color does make a visable difference, if I change the color of an OEM group of parts will each group/piece count as a modification? In example: In the engine compartment, If I paint/powder coat/plate all of the OEM brackets one color(but not the color they came in), and paint/powder coat/plate the OEM exhaust manifold a different color, how many modifications will that be counted as? 2) I may be using some genuine Nissan parts from the same year but different market S30. As some cars did come from the factory(as opposed to the dealer) with these parts, do they count as a modification. In example: I am planning to use a fuse box area cover with a dual rocker parking light switch. The cover assembly was made to fit my console and simply was not a part intended to be destined for dealers in the USA. Will that be counted as a modification? 3) I am entering a '72 240Z and will be using cosmetic parts from earlier and later 240Zs, will each instance be a modification-even though the parts are listed as interchangeable in the USA/Canada parts book dated November of 1974? In example: I will be using an early Red dot rearview mirror, and a later pull type Hazzard light switch, in an early dash in a 1972 240Z. How many modifications will that be counted as? Thanks for your thoughts! Will

Understanding Car Show rules
I heard back from Mr. Gasparola, evidently the one on the site is the current one. However, in going back to through the site, both the 2002 revision and the 2005 revision are available on the site-depending on the link used to fing the rules. Here is the link for the November 2005 revision: http://www.zcca.org/downloads/JudgingRules_rev2005.pdf I have been using the 2002 revision, so I will print out and study the 2005 revision and see if my questions remain. Understanding Car Show rules
My '72 is signed up even though I have yet to finish the bodywork, and it is still axles up on my rotisserie. I am probably entering in either the Nissan or Street Modified class-depending on rules interpretation-fortunately, the signup process stated that the class would be verified before the show. Because of some of the things I am doing with the car, and the wording of the rules I have a few questions about what constitutes a modification to confirm-I am assuming on the side of having "No" for an answer, but "Yes" could radically change things. I would prefer to have the answers that the rules should successfully convey, and not the questions that I am left with. But! A current copy of the rules may well address my questions! Will

Understanding Car Show rules
First, The rules on the ZCCA site are revised 2002, but I have a printed copy that was revised in November 2005, does anybody have a link to a newer revision? No sense discussing something that has changed... I just requested direction to the latest version of the rules from the webmaster at the ZCCA Will

Understanding Car Show rules
Car Show rules sometimes are subject to interpretation, and as more people enter a hobby, are sometimes found not to be as well defined as intended, Since the ZCCA show rules are important to the Z community, lets deal with them first. I hope to have some help in pasting some posts from another thread here as a starting point... Will

Side Stripes..before and after
I think posts 27 through 33 need to be in another thread(though 27 and 28 are pertinant), not only because they are going off topic, but also because they are a great subject I really want to get into-without hijacking this thread! Somebody help me please! Will

Engine locked need help.
Cyl pressure too high? The two to three hours to leak down...then it works.. Take out the plugs one at a time and try, if yes, install a compression tester and try. If I am right, you will probably find the issue in the valve train Will Oh sure Ramses, read my mind and type a shorter version!

Side Stripes..before and after
Mike, Here is a quote from the ZCCA rule book: "A) STOCK CLASS Vehicles exhibited must be configured exactly as shipped from factory (NOT DEALER). Cars with Dealer add-ons such, as wheels, other than stock tires, side moldings, etc. can enter this class with deductions for same. Radios, paint color, tires, etc. must be as shipped. A/C must be factory installed except 240Z which may have same A/C as installed by dealer, i.e. ARA or Frigid King, with basic York compressor. " In a ZCCA show, this is why... More than 100 ultra bright leds and a used wiring harness, but less than the cost of the documents it took to make it.
