Grounds are good spending $100 on $19 worth of wire is not! Hit up your welding supply place or waytekwire. This is also well covered in the archives, but I just paraphrased it for you with the Readers Digest version... Will
  6. MY favorite has came from a member here: "Breats and thights!" Will
  7. This was cutting-edge technology of the day that went obsolete when the quartz movement was put firmly in place. 14inch rims and tires were the same cutting edge of technology then...try to find new 14" 5.5' wide rims and tires local to you now... I could duplicate the circuit board in the oscillator with out issue, but the tuning fork is evidently simply NLA-uneless hand fabrication is used-and more importantly paid for... I can solder smt, but I can't for the life of me find what to eat to poop a tuning forK(though I do have continuous and intimate first-hand knowledge of what it takes to make Kidney stones)! Again my hope is to replace the entire drive assembly(oscilator and motor with a current quartz motor assembly). My clock appears to be in exceptional shape inside, clean, no discernable wear to the gears, and still flowing lubrication(non running puddles follow gravity) so on-granted I am baseing this observation on the difference between gages I pulled from the same dash-they had obvious wear, were bone dry, and a fair amount of dust in them. Obviously the clock was added later... Will
  8. Bumpity bump, thursday is the trump! Will
  9. Hey Blox, with the engine running, leaking fuel draining between the radiator and the ac compressor will be dumped right into your cooling fan, slapping it into a very fine mist and blowing it all over your dizzy and exhaust manifold! Put a lip on the end and a nipple for a hose and route the drainage under the car out of any ambient airstreams... Will
  10. OMG-a towel head tshirt! Will
  11. Jason, PM me your address, and I'll get you an exact shipping qoute(I have a fedex account and will ship to you at cost), and I'll do the research to see if I have a proper speedo gear... over the weekend... Will
  12. I grew up listening to the radio plays-on PBS here in the states-after them, the movie wasn't quite as good as it would have been... Will
  13. I have Me! Gary D. Chris W. Chris A. Jack W. Victor L. Any more of you out there with a Rally clock that needs(or will need) internal updating(no change in outward installed appearance, only updated to a current and serviceable motor from the original motor that is sorely without the pivotal replacement part for its timing circuit). If you have a rally clock and it is not in need of this update yet, please post as well. You will become a captive audience if(when) your tuning fork fails. Not that I wish that on any of you with working assembleis, but... Will PS, PM if you want to be included but not publicly!

  17. OK, the trip will be Thursday/Friday 5/31,6/1. How many of you guys would need a rally clock mechanism update? I'm working on bargaining chips.... I spoke with them to confirm my appointment, and they happen to have a later rally clock (single knob) in the shop at the moment, (anybody here?) They seem more optomistic about being able to fit a replacement motor in my two knob clock(where the circuitry is already "off site") than in the single knob variety. We had a healthy conversation about the oscillator, and its origins, and he is very interested in the clock, to the point that He is going to have a look while I am there and see if the standard motors will fit, and then explore more alternatives as necessary... Is it next Thursday yet? Will
  18. "THE" question is and has always been 6x7 or 7x6! Will

  20. OIl and water don't mix, but Monty Python and Douglas Adams-Monty Adams and Douglas Python? I would hate to see the ofspring of a dead parrot and Zaphodd Beeblebrox, so long and thanks for the fish! A sense oF humor-what of it! With you lot, what else is there! Will

  23. And all this time I thought towel day was on the 42 seconds into the 42nd day of the fourty second year after The first edition of the HHGTG was written and translated into 42 different languages...I think I'll go wrap my head with a wet towel...and contemplate the vast hugeness of the universe of the volume of rust one Z can contain... My take. 1a) Really go over the car for rust-get her on stands and check the rails, floor pan, and suspension mounting points-sounds like you have driven her some, make sure that won't put you some where you don't want to go...Hopefully DaveN can loan you a second pair of eyes at the same time he gets a dose of your carb cologne! 1b) Take and post pictures 2) Schedule some time with DaveN, Before getting together, Clean the engine, have the answers to his questions, proper tools, shop towels, carb cleaner, a full carb kit, and the properly prepared beveredges of his choice handy! One of my fisrt automotive lessons was "The more fun and convenient helping is, the more help you get!" 2b) Take and post pictures 3) If there is rust in the structural areas fix it or have it fixed first 3b) Take and post pictures 4) Deal with the mechanicals(other than the carbs) to make the car safe. 4b) Take and post pictures 5)Install the weather strips. 5b) Take and post pictures 6)Install AC 6b) Take and post pictures 7) Prep and paint! 7b) Take and post pictures 8) Drive 8b) Take and post pictures!
