Been a while but here it is....
Thanks fellas. The slant's don't compare technology wise but I have heard they are as tough as nails. As for a 340, I can only afford the fuel for a 318!!! :)

Been a while but here it is....
Still love the 240K's but here is a pic taken not long ago with my "new" car, 240K long gone now It's a 1969 Chrysler VF Valiant, 225ci 6 cylinder. I already have a donor car with 318ci V8 lined up and all items for a conversion. These 6's don't compare to the gutsy Nissan L series.

Better Alternative Alternator for 240K
I'll check tonight what the capacity is, like I said though it's at least 50amps. I'm more inclined to suggest it is around the 70-80amp mark, but I'll hold off until I re-check. James

Better Alternative Alternator for 240K
Razor, Iused an Skyline R30 internally regulated alternator in my 240K, from memory it was 50amps or more, can't recall exactly but a nice bump up at least on the stock 240K unit. Straight bolt up, wiring/plug arrangement is the same. Note, I didn't re-arrange the wiring to run off the internal regulator, it was still all hooked up as per standard and didn't find any problems arising from this. One difference I did find was at idle the amp gauge needle remained centred and didn't drop into the - zone, nor did the lights dim at night . Gave a nice constant charge, unreliant on the rev's of the engine! :classic: James

240K Mystery Switch
Do you have a instrument dimmer switch next to your choke cable handle? If not, then perhaps the switch you speak of is the dimmer switch, mounted there instead. Or as Alfa suggested, these holes are usually blanked out with a factory rubber/plastic cover and may be an add on switch for something else. Remove the switch from the front, check the colour of the wires, get a torch and check under the dash. Follow the wires and see where it leads you. James

Expressions of interest - Datsun 240K coupe
Hi guys, What's happened to this site??? I haven't been able to get in for a couple of weeks, as though it disappeared! Only this morning I recieved email notification of replies posted to my threads, anyone else experience this?? I have news; the car is sold, apologies to anyone out there who's been waiting for me to appear over the last couple of weeks but as I said, I wasn't able to access the site. Weird?! Do we have any other new 240K people on board? James

Expressions of interest - Datsun 240K coupe
Hi all, I will be selling my 240K coupe soon, I've had offers for a couple of projects with other model cars that I've found very hard to resist and I've given in. Over the last week I've come to grips with what it will be like without a Datto, but I've had a very good run; been fortunate enough to own 3 coupes and 3 sedans in the last 10 years. All have served proudly. They'll be fondly remembered, and so will the legendary stories; nothing better than someone asking "is that a bloody Datsun?" or "your Datsun did that?". Anyway, enough of the sentiments, I'm posting here so you guys or anyone you know can express an interest in the car before it officially goes up for sale. Note; IT WILL BE FOR SALE. Every single spare part that I have for this car will be sold with the car so it's an ideal purchase for the enthusiast. Details below; No reg/RWC (won't be much anyway, car was built early this year!) 1975 Datsun 240K coupe Paint; metallic blue/green, black bonnet 2.4 litre 6 cylinder, 3 speed auto, 3.54:1 R180 diff. New timing chain, guides, front/rear seals, gaskets, etc 6 months old. 240Z carburettors Extractors E88 late model head, shaved .030" C/R 9.2:1 approx. Electronic ignition 280ZX series 2 alloys, 225 rear tyres/195 front. Original interior, tidy. Spares; L28 complete bottom end Exc cond L28 N42 head Exc cond C110 GTR flares 280ZX 5 speed recently purchased Clutches, flywheels, etc, all Exc cond. Timing chains, guides, pulleys, etc. 2 x elec dizzy and coils - tested, A1 cond. Struts and brakes GC H/D rear springs/H/D rear shocks, like new. Oil pumps/ front covers/ Alternators Starter motors Original steering wheel - cleaned/varnished Exc cond Front left and right fenders; need rust repairs Front indicator/park lenses Front lights + assemblies Front and rear bumpers Front grille, A1 original Interior kick panels GC Centre console good intact except for slight crack Badges, trim, etc etc. RE L28 motor and g'box; all that would be required is assembly of the engine (all parts available), bolt up gearbox and you are set to go. This engine is A1, never missed a beat and is very reliable. I estimate it's only done 100,000 klms for myself, was originally bought at the importers from Japan with low mileage. All spares are in 'very good to excellent condition', especially engine/electrical components (had to collect and keep, they're getting harder to find). Price; $2500 the lot. PRICE IS FIRM and very, very reasonable for all these items, including the car! See pics below or my gallery to view. I can be contacted on my numbers below if you're interested. Home phone (03) 9705-2556 Work (03) 9706-5169 I'm located in Sth East Melbourne (Australia for you O/S fellas). James 240k x 4.bmp

C210 engine conversion need help
Where did you score that motor from ???!!:classic: That'd be a great conversion, especially if, as you suggest, it may be near enough a bolt in job. Let us know what your findings are, cheers. James

Original wheel trim bits :D
Try looking at a few C210 Skylines, I'm pretty sure their steel wheels used the same chrome trim. I have a couple at home but to be honest I'm not 100% sure if they are original 240K items; do you have a picture? James

C210 engine conversion need help
Don't know details of wheta's involved for the RB25 head onto the RB30 vlock, but one difference is the RB25 head is twin cam! Don't bother with an N/A RB20, go the RB30, 2litre vs 3litre, need I say more :cheeky:

C110 GTR flares?
Thanks Lachlan, Must sell a conversion kit for this, probably Castlemaine Rod Shop or something. Just curious anyway...

C110 GTR flares?
Hey Peter (440K), Just wondering what gearbox you've got behind that V8 engine. Is it a 240K box or Rover??? James

C210 engine conversion need help
Welcome c210. I wouldn't bother with a non turbo RB25, may as well get an extra 500cc and fit an RB30 with a 5 speed. You'd be surprised how much fun these can be, I have a friend with a C210, standard RB30 motor/five speed and it goes very hard. Can't recall exactly what was required to make it fit, but I don't think it was too much trouble; he used only the engine management loom and discarded the wiring for all other accessories, simple and hassle free. One day I will look at either upgrading to an an EFI motor or reubilding the L28, but if I'm going to EFI it'd be the RB30. Heaps of torque, very strong, reliable, and parts/spares cheap and readily available; things to consider when it comes to cars isn't it !:classic: James

240k information
Welcome khughes! First of all I wish you luck finidng a good example of a 2 door coupe within a short period of time. If you manage to do it, great! I know of a couple of guys with coupes here in Vic who'd be willing to part if the right $$$ was paid, infact my ex-project GTR replica with tubbed rear and GTR flares all round belongs to a friend of mine now :cheeky: Only thing that would need touching up for a rally car would be the rear quarter boot corners (cut and shut job) and re-spray the car (orange peel finish) Second point, please don't use it as a rally car!!! These classics are getting so hard to find to risk bashing against a tree. Come on, do yourself a favour, buy a crappy Sunny or 180B and save the 240K for a classic restoration. My 2cents, James

C110/240K coupe over fenders
Keep it registered!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me, when it comes time to re-registering the vehicle and passing it through the relevant safety checks ie Road Worthy the hassles can be huge. Some testers will fuss over the most irrelevant things regarding the vehicles safety and just aren't worth the hassles. Play it safe, have the car checked over by yourself or mechanic and upgrade items on a needs only basis eg suspension items, brakes, tyres etc. I re-registered what my father and I believed was a pretty sound car a few years back, but ran into a mechanic who picked up on the radiator (why was an auto radiator used for manual car??), window rubbers, and cracked dash (even covered by dash mat!). Went to another guy and he just handed over the RWC no problems.

C110/240K coupe over fenders
Mine won't be going on for a while yet. I'm driving it daily at the moment, the plan is to get another car $$$, have the K off the road and start a complete from scatch project. Now back to reality....

C110/240K coupe over fenders
Yeah I got the flares made, not too bad considering he had to make new moulds out of exisiting flares. That said no-one but a purist is going to notice anyway. Good luck, James

Datsun Alloy Rim
Yep. We got those wheels on some C210 Skylines (240K for the UK). Look real nice when cleaned up and polished. James

Side window rattles (240K)
Well done Lachlan, I know exactly what little things you're talking about, duct tape does the job fine if you can't source them from another car. I had this problem also some years back and worked great! Good stuff, James

Thinking of selling my 240K
Let me know how much via a PM. Cheers, James

Auto -> Manual, Electrics Query
The 240Z gearbox won't bolt straight up to the K; them gearboxes have an output flange as opposed to 240K/260Z input yoke type configuration. If you get a 260Z 5 speed, the oil fill up bolt is on the right side of the gearbox when viewed from above, thats the only difference cosmetically anyway. Good 2nd hand 5 speeds are hard to get, an easy bet would be a 240K 4 speed; tough as nails. James

Rubber Kits for 240K hardtop
Try Scotts Old Auto Rubber, very good. Or Rare Spares, we have a couple in Melbourne, they're handy as well. Figure on price? Not sure... James

Electronic Ignition GC211 -> GC110
Great stuff! Runs smoother also yeah? And more responsive?
