  1. G'Day there boyblunda, Don't know if it's the same one mate but it is ORANGE. The ad reads; Quote; "Datsun 260Z, 1975, stored 18 years, 91,000 kms, suit for museum piece. Garaged and rustproofed, orange with white interior, 5spd man, 2-seater,pager alarm, many extras, XDP 123". He then gives his mobile number in S.A. and the price of 24,000. Does that ring any bells mate ???????? You say the ebay car's on it's way accross the Nullabore ? Isn't S.A. on the way ????????? If this bloke get's 24,000 for it there's hope for the rest of us yet. Rick.
  2. In the latest issue of Just Cars Magazine, a bloke in S.A. has a 1975 260Z that has been garaged for the last 18 years, has lots of extras, and is asking $24,000.oofor it. It must have a gold plated choke lever for that price. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  3. Weeeell now, I said I am a science FICTION buff. About the only UFO's I believe in are to be found in my workshop; U n F inished O bjects. Rick.
  4. :stupid: :stupid: That's me alright. Justin, Decided to go through my pics and found two that might help. Rick.
  5. G'Day again mate, Mine are Cheviot 6JJx14's (stamped on the wheels), running Bridgestone B70's 195/70 R14's. Sorry mate, no photo available and no film in the camera. That's what those four little holes in the wheels are for ............. to screw the caps on. The caps are round at the base but flatten out top and bottom to an oval to take the oval shaped Aunger sticker. I have seen them on cars other than Zeds but can't recall WHICH cars. The info any good to you ??????????????? Rick.
  6. Hey there Justin, I have the same wheels on "Precious" which came with the car. I believe they were a dealer option at the time of sale (or so the original owner told me). Fortunately, the chromed plastic caps for the center of the wheels were all in good nick but only one still had a badly deteriorated Aunger sticker on it. I searched the web for Aunger, found them and asked if the Aunger stickers were still available, supplying a detailed description. There was no email reply but, a week or so later, I received an envelope from them containing half a dozen of the stickers I had requested with a note telling me there was no charge for them. As for the chromed plastic centres, I have no idea where they could be sourced from. Perhaps Warren at All Z Parts could help. The pic didn't scan very well. The outer border, strips on either side of the red stripes and the word Aunger are chromed while the center stripe and either end is black. Quite impressive. Rick.

Hey there Devildog, G'Day Rob, welcome to the site. Love the colour of your Zed mate. Looks a shade lighter than mine which has a gold pearl added as a top coat. In the shade she's plain bronze but put her in the sunlight and she SPARKLES. Are you keeping your Zed as original as possible or do you plan any mods ?. Rick.
  8. Good one Carl, I had an instant vision of one in the back of a Zed with the front end of a Cur-vette sticking out under the lid as if trying to get out. (Gives me an idea for our club's show and shine coming up at the end of May.) Rick. :devious: :devious: :devious:
  9. Well written Steve. However, since you felt the need to ask the opinions of fellow Zed fanatics, perhaps you have already subconciously rejected the thought of selling that drop dead gorgeous vision of absolute beauty that graces your avatar. Question; If you cast your imagination 30 years into the future, how many Neons would you expect to find still on the road ???????? Mate, Zeds are forever. Rick. :devious: :devious:

You bloody beauty, Thanks to everyone who was assisting me in my search for an air box. Within the next day or so one will be on it's way to it's new home in the engine bay of "Precious", the Bronze Aussie Zed. Thanks again everyone. Rick.

G'Day Al, Mate, I don't know a damned thing about 810's. I just thought I'd welcome you to the site. SOMEONE is bound to have an answer for you. Pics would help. Rick.
  12. Carl, Reminds me of the nail gun story. Would certainly have had a SHARP pain in the head. Rick. :stupid: :stupid:
  13. mperdue, I have a brochure for the 260Z Sports/2+2. It's double sided and opens out to twice the size of A3 paper. I had both sides photocopied and display the copies whenever my Zed has a public performance. I also searched for a copywrite mark but was unable to find one. Considering the number of brochures that would have been handed out to prospective buyers and that the technical information could hardly be considered 'SECRET' once the brochure was printed, would there be any need for copywrite ?. Rick.

Hey Carl, Here in the land down under it's very, very, VERY ilegal to roll back the mileage on a car. More than just a slap on the wrist and told you're a naughty boy. How is it going to affect resale ?????????. Does a reconditioned odometer stand at all zeros ?. I would think that , regardless of how detailed the restoration has been, the reading of the ORIGINAL mileage would add to the value of the car. The point is, if it's ilegal and you get caught, you're in a fast flowing creek of poop without so much as a paddle and there goes whatever good reputation you may have. Rick.

AAaaaaa, Enrique, Ya got me !!!!!!!!!!!!! What REALLY surprised me about The U.S. Airborne, Marines and Army servicemen taking R&R in Australia was that we didn't make the date for the observance of Labor Day random and rename it LaboU r Day. My main complaint was that we were not permitted to R&R in the U.S. thereby allowing us to reciprocate. I had to settle for a week in Bangkok. Poor, poor me huh ??????????? :classic: :classic: :classic: Rick. :devious: :devious: :devious:

Good grief Will, I'd just been discharged from an Army hospital where I'd spent nine weeks flat on my back where the only "Female" (please note I did NOT say FEMININE),companionship were Army nurses. YUK. The only Save Our Daughters Demonstrations I know of occured whenever a 'plane load of septic tanks arrived on R&R from Viet Nam. Rick.
  18. Hey Victor, Take a closer look at the fuel filter mate. Notice the hole drilled into it ???? Richard, Those carbies ARE getting the flick. I have a set of 240 carbies on manifold, ready to go on. Just waiting to get an air box. Gavin, Using those air filters was my first thought mate. No such luck. Rick.

Yair Will, As I said, those 30 women were Save Our Sons demonstrators. They were marching to and fro across the entrance gate to a National Service Induction Centre where I was temporarily posted while on rehab from hospital. On the day I was to report for duty, I walked around the corner and one old duck spots me and yells "There's one, there's one". They all started towards me, waving their placards menacingly at me and, being a young, fit, bronzed Aussie soldier who was combat hardened and trained in unarmed combat I did the only thing I could do. I turned tail and ran like hell with these crazy women chasing after me, still waving their placards like two handed broadswords. Fortunately, the back gate was open and I managed to get inside the compound before the bunch of crazies caught up to me. To this day I wonder what would have happened if they had caught me. Might have been fun. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  20. This is mainly for Gavin's benefit but I thought others might like to see how the previous owner of "Precious" set up the carbies. I have to admit, she ran well until there was a blockage, fuel ran up into the hose, overflowed the filter,(Check the hole in the filter to allow the passage of air), and poured down onto the manifold. Fortunately the engine wasn't up to full operating temperature at the time. I've since bought a pair of 240 carbies so you can understand why I've been in the hunt for an air box. Rick.

Well now Will, I don't know if this counts or not but on one occasion, back in 1966, (well before a lot of you were any more than twinkles in your old man's eyes), I had about 30 women chasing me. :classic: :classic: It was a mob of Save Our Sons demonstrators. Apart from that, theres only been one chook in this old rooster's play pen for the past 38 years. She might be an old boiler now but still the best offsider a working man could have. (Tell her I called her that and I'll DENY IT IN THE STRONGEST TERMS. I value my safety.) :stupid: Rick. :devious: :devious:

Well, well, well, majored in voyuerism did you Chris ???????????? Anyway, bugger the praying mantis. I stil want to come back as a pig. Or a dog. Or a cat. :nervous: (I'll just have to make sure I don't do a contotionist act in the middle of the road) (Especialy if there are any Zed owners around). :stupid: Rick. :devious: :devious:

Yair, good one Will. I can't top that one mate. :disappoin I have only two more snippets; An Ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain. (I've known some people like that). A cat's urine glows under a black light. (Someone was actually paid to figure that out). Rick.

O.K, here's a few more. Some lions mate up to 50 times a day. (I still want to reincarnate as a pig ................Quality not quantity) :devious: Butterflies taste with their feet. (I've always wanted to know that) :stupid: The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. (Hmmmmm ..... a thought springs to mind). Right handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left handed people. (If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?) Elephants are the only animals that cant jump. (O.K, so that might be a good thing if you're standing close to one). Polar bears are left handed. (If they switch, they might live longer). ENJOY !!!!!!!! Rick. :devious: :devious:
