I think the requirements for getting a helmet depends on how many generations or design evolutions have occured between when you got your and what it is currently. You might have a helmet that's been in a nice box in the closet for 10 years and s still perfectly new, but it could be two or more generations behind in design & construction, so for your safety, you are required to have a helmet that is closer to the current, most protective, standard. It's not about having you constantly spending money. If it was, then you'd be required to buy new tires, spark plugs, and any other consumables more often than practical.

In the video with Jay, the Knight Rider car builder said that there was deal worked out with Ford, so there must've been a deal made, because they did get the two cars to start with. When is the movie showing on Sunday? thxZ

Would you rsther see Michael Knight in a riced-up Honduh? What else is there? Corvette? Psion?

No, that's not it. More like this one
  5. Where would you hide the electronics for the dome lamp? Or would it matter much?
  6. Would those lights work in place of the dome lamp? thxZ

I think the current Firebird line should be good for that show. It already has the ram-air intakes on it, which looks a little like the scanner on the old show. I could never see a womanizer-type like Michael Knight in a boxy musclecar like a Mustang. But then again, Who's the star?

  9. P.F. Flyers were the original "high-top" sneakers, but with the flat soles. Converse bought the company and renamed it NewBalance. I learned to drive on a car with a column-shift 3-speed transmission.
  10. The next thing I would want to discuss is how to show your literature. You could just leave the things sitting out in the open, you could frame them, or you can put them into a book or notebook using clear plastic sleeves. I would probably go forthe latter, but I also have access to a large laminating machine which could laminate full-page magazine ads separately or arraned in groups up to 30 inches wide. You could laminate them into a piece big enough to cover your hood or to use a a sunscreen behind the winscreen! opinions or ideas? thxZ
  11. I got lucky with a search on Amazon.com to find a CD-ROM with a collection of Nissan/ Datsun Z/Zx Ads There are over 100 ads from 1970-2007 and you are allowed to copy or print them all.
  12. If anyone is interested in the two books Will mentioned in post #11: Car and Driver, "On Datsun Z" http://www.biblio.com/books/134281409.html brooklandsbooks "Datsun 240Z & 260Z Gold Portfolio 1970-1978" http://store.brooklandsbooks.com/product206.html The first book is mostly a collection of magazine articles and roadtest data/opinions, and the second is a book about the Project 240Z that the Nissan dealers had to restore 240Zs

fuzze, Mike has a CD that I made a couple years ago, with all the best songs from 1978, that go well with a Z.
  14. It's too bad that the microfilm records of the magazines at the library are all in black & white. It should be good just to go read what there is.
  15. A recent search on eBay turns up two popular magazine issues: Jan 1975 road & track Apr 1984 popular hot rodding Is anyone familiar with those? I would think that the 1975 one is about the "new" 280Z and a test drive, and the 1984 one is about a modded one or probably something less relative, like a V8 police chase 280Z I read about spmewhere. Are there any important magazines that you'd want to keep an eye out for besides the PHR one? What others had debuts or test drives about the 280Z? What about some original dealer literature? Can you get any of that stuff? Yes, I'm stll trying to find a magazine that'll be really interesting to have. Something that really says something great or unique about the Z thxZ

I don't remember any of those from the 70s, mate. IMO, the best ( and only real music with guitars, melody, "singing", harmony, etc) was from the 70s and 80s. When rap, and then hop-hop, music came along, the music died. That's why people must now hide their speakers in the trunk.

The car show& judging will be on that Tuesday, so tentative means that certain other things might shift a day forward or back. You are welcome to give feedback to the event organizers, or you can host the convention yourself..

What do you mean by that?

FYI, the website for the 2008 Convention is now available for browsing. http://clevelandrockz.com/ thxZ
  21. I think that you'll find the fees for things will be MUCH more afordable for te 2008 convention. The car show itself will be held in a very accessible place where there are lots of car-admiring people, and things will be nicer, closer together and convenient to get to. The website for the convention hould be ready & up in a week or two thxZ

I triedthe brake quiet stuff a couple years ago. It worked, but not for long. Then I had the rotors turned down just a little to smooth them, and the squeeling stopped.

I thopught there would take more than a snorkel, a wing and some chrome scripts to rive that car. the snorkel does seem to be blingy tho, as the engine doesn't need it, a there aren't any carberetors on it to need a snorkel. The crooked scrips just look bad, not rice- what about the fake fender vents? You'd think that somebody who would put on an expensive "modified" supercharger would be able to get the crips on straight. I was expecting to see other rice stuff like subwoofers, a big shift light, flares & ground effects skirts, and some really flashy neon paint (not dark blue) with graphics & such. I'm talking more like 250Z meets 2Fast2Furious...

In your opion, is a rebuild better than getting a new unit? Why did you choose to rebuild in stead of getting something like the bigger ZX master cylinder like some 280Z owners do? thxZ

No, there's no worries. they worked things out.
