  • Description This car was bought from a guy in Houston. The ownership history is as follows, starting with the most recent:

    - Me
    - Guy in Houston
    - Used car lot in Austin
    - Woman in San Francisco (she donated the car to Cars for Kids)
    - Man in San Fran that i have spoken to. He got the engine rebuilt. He said that the dealer he bought it from got the car from a Z collector who had had it for 20 years prior. Still trying to verify this.

When i received the car, it was in pretty rough shape. There was bondo all over the body, and fairly extensive rust in the quarter panels and the headlight areas. The car had had a very cheap paint job at some point. One of the PO's had drawn flames all over the body with a sharpie marker.

The interior was almost as bad. The seats were ripped and the carpet had been redone from a roll of carpet, not a kit. The headliner was missing. There was some rust in the passenger floor board, probably from a leaky heater valve.

The engine ran rough from day one, and had had similar troubles for the last 6 years, according to the maintenance records. It would start up immediately, but once the engine warmed up, it would start chugging and die while idling. Almost all the seals, gaskets and hoses had to be replaced. The brakes were almost nonfunctional, as i found out on my test drive.

About 5 months after i bought it, the engine overheated unexpectedly and destroyed the head.
