For sale 240z Dutch original.. can you spot whats wrong?

Recommended Posts

Today 7 March 2021  a 240z came up for sale on the dutch marketplace..  ( marktplaats.nl)  At first glance a nice car ... but can you see whats totally wrong with it?

image

The flashers are original euro/dutch as are the bumpers.  (Wheels are 260z but look very good on it!)

On this pic.. it's obvious that the car was (like almost any other original 240z once was) a rustbucket due to the Dutch weather)  CAN YOU SPOT IT?

o.k. Mart-----how about---

the driver side rear view mirror

As a side note---that is some pretty unusual topiary in the second shot. I've never seen anything trimmed to that shape before!

Nope..   ( I don't know if it's a original..)

The thing thats wrong with the car is much bigger than a mirror..

Compare the side of the car with the side of your imaculate 240z car.. you'll see the big mistake!!

I just saw the lack of a rear side marker light!

Ha--funny how our eyes are so blind to our brains.

It's early here in the U.S. One cup of Java isn't enough yet.

Bingo !!   After the rotten away wheelhousing they welded in a non original one!  It's not round like the front one.. The lip is wrong also..

Congrets! Jim!

Evidently much to square! In this pic you can see the fault really clearly..

Duh---thanks--I guess.

Third times charm?

Shame, shame---looks to be pretty nice otherwise for a screw up like that to appear. Makes you wonder about the rest of it.

I had no idea that rear side markers weren't a Dutch requirement---learned something new!

Thanks for the teaser Mart!!

There's a link in the first post were you can see the whole car..  It's a nice car but.. i've seen some Dutch 240z cars and they were all rustbuckets due to the weather here.. moist and salty..

It's better for cars to stay in..   in the winter in the Netherlands.

I looked at the photos in the link---nothing showing the under carriage  or engine bay. Buyer beware!

A Tabco replacement arch is only ~$125.00 here in the States----even with labor a pretty cheap fix.

Should have been done properly the first time for sure.

I got them from a german?/swedish? company (Würth?)  lying in the pile of parts on my attic... dust on them from 30! years of lying..  Just Maybe... i'm gonna use them on my own old 240z with build in glasfiber  ( terrible ) rear fenderflares.
