Slow progress. Been messing with naval jelly in the battery tray and booster area.

Decided remove the battery mount so I can “clean” up underneath it.

I'm , as you know, also busy in the engineroom and i know that i many years ago also took out the tray out of the 240z. I didn't weld it back.. in stead i took a set of big steel selftapping screws. That way i can always take it out as it is a bit of a fragile spot!

Same old story, more slow than steady. Of course the holidays didn’t help.

I been waiting for a spot to open up in the shop to so I can bring mine over and in. We have a car that’s basically been in storage in the shop since I’ve worked there that I started on this week. So hopefully I’ll be in soon.

Can’t wait for shop tools and “late nights”.

Figured I’d see what the core support looks like.

Wow.. you have a lot of work there, is that undercoating on the plastic fenderliners?  I just needed to clean mine with a pressurewasher.. Most of the paint in my engineroom is still there.. i just need to sand it a bit clean and paint it.. The engine is ready to go in.. Haven't made any pics yet.. now 2 month's pause.. i'm not motivated and the heater in my garage is broken.. so as it is a bit cold i'm even less motivated unfortunately.🥱

Yep, lots of rubberized undercoating. It’s like an iced cake. I think it may have been from the dealer.

Probably a bit obsessive but I have a few areas where the plastic is cracked and needs repaired

Dollied the car to the shop yesterday and went ahead and pulled the motor, trans, and gas tank while there was an open lift.

Everything came out easy, just a little short fight with the trans.

All that was needed to remove. Everything else had been previously removed.

I haven’t been under this car on a lift until now. Could be better, could be way worse. Nothing I didn’t already see and it actually looked better than I thought. The frame rails are rough, but only on the bottom and the metal I could see inside looked great

I wasn’t sure about pulling the tank, but I was curious if it was hiding rot.

Ha.

Here’s some of the rust spots. Mainly the usual places at the joints between the front and rear of the floor pans. One good one back in the spare tire well but not in the usual spot and possibly some “work” around it so it may have been previously patched.

Maybe treated inside?

More rust on some upper body panel parts but no pics. Drivers door needs major work, both doglegs, and the right rear. Also some around the windshield which I really don’t want to remove.

Before you even put more hours and work in this body... (i would not restore the damage it's to much..) take a good look under the front fenders near the doors.. I think the body is to far gone there.. as it is a real collector from mud and water. Damn that bottom is rusty!  Don't know your budget but get yourself a better body i think!
