My Mom had a Pontiac Catalina when I first had memory. And my memory was :this is a huge car".

We called it the "kitty cat". She always threatened to put me in the trunk when I wouldn't shut up with my questions. LOL

But why? Why? Why? Why? That makes no sense, WHY!!! Then "do as I say, not as I do".

I love my dog.

Remember the vans with carpet on the dashes

Hard to believe that was considered classy at one time, I remember going to the Van O rama  cars shows at the Vancouver Coliseum and there would be hundreds of equally classy vans with murals on the sides.

AK, LOL!! Yeah that's the one!  When siteunseen mentioned dropping a marble into the door of his moms car, it reminded me of the ball bearing demo they did on the XLE.

The best part is you can hear that ball rattling around in there like pachinko before it falls out the bottom. Hahaha!!!   ROFL

This is engineering for the inner-city driving experience.

In high school one of my good friends had an Oldsmobile VistaCruiser with a big block (455?) in it. That thing was a tank, but lots of top end if you had room to run. Remember burying the speedometer needle more than once with 5 or 6 (or 8 or 9?) of us punks in it. It is a wonder we all survived some of the stupid things we did back then.

You have the earlier Truckster.

Here's the later one. Notice that covered taller piece of luggage up top? That's Aunt Edna. LOL

It's a series of older comedy movies with the Griswold family. This has a huge station wagon "The Wagon Queen Family Truckster". That older guy is Chevy Chase, he's been in a lot of pretty funny movies. Caddyshack? Also had a talk show for one season. He sucked at that.

My only reason for watching that show after school was Susan Dey.

You all must be a bunch of youngsters, our family ride was a 61 Bel Air wagon, 283 with 3 on the tree. Got my license in this baby in 1967. When I started dating the folks sold it and got a 1967 MG Midget that they let me take on dates. They must have known the old adage of "accidents in the back seat cause kids"!

The first family car I remember for our family with four kids was a 1956 Dodge wagon.

Later my mom got a 1963 Ford Galaxie wagon with the 390....

But her long time car was a 1950 Studebaker Champion Convertible. It was stored after about 1965.  It looked like this one...

Love the wagon!

Also, I am living proof of that old adage you referenced. A 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible from what I am told. Leaving Star Trek GIF
