Very nice collection of cars. We never see that many together at once up here.

Well, it’s the first only Japcar meet since 2007 and we were 610 cars so that was great. Still only 5 Z cars.

Nice!

This one qualifies for the "Zs only a mother could love".  It also has that "Kardashian Wide Body Kit".

Hahaha, well it’s an old American style race car

I wouldn't want to own it but sure would like to take it out on the track if offered.

Pulled the tired old original engine out of the ZX in anticipation of getting my head back from the machine shop. I'm not quite ready for the new engine yet, but I figure this will give me plenty of opportunity to clean up the engine bay and deal with that miserable power steering fluid leak that's been there since I got the car.

Looks like I'll need to replace the coolant hoses to the heater core that run through the firewall. They all but disintegrated upon removal. 826a3aa0ff0ce7438592b7ad5d0e2ed9.jpg4c9f1c0b0eaf2b3fadb1c467b8ec9da5.jpg

At the Z barn:

  • Helped my buddy get a 73 going that sat for 5 years.  Runs great now.  Clogged fuel bowls, fuel needle valve blocked, missing internal carb spring, weak return springs, fuel pump failed, timing was at 10ATDC and vacuum leaks
  • Picked up a fuel pump that matches the type in the very early FSM's
  • Enjoyed a great view at the barn on the mountain and time with great friends... even saw a 1969 LA police car #12 stored there.

Burned up some older fuel this morning.  Refilled with fresh at a busy gas station/McDonald's and had 3 experts tell me what my car was worth.  Small town stuff.  Get a quart of oil and a Quarter Pounder in one place.  Also free Z appraisals. 🤨

How close were they to what it's really worth?

Way off, $5,000.

Told me where they could buy one for a few thousand. "Here's my phone, call them and I'll buy it today".  Then didn't know was it a 2.4, 2.8, Z or ZX.  Oh yeah also said no way was the paint original.  That's when I quit being polite.  its too hot to argue with rednecks.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Sometimes it's kinda fun, other times not.  Had a guy at a gas station walk up when I had the hood up.  He looked at the engine like he knew what it was and then asked " Is that one of them rotary motors?"  I just closed the hood and said gotta go!

Went for a 230km “hot as hell” trip to get the engine tuned on a dyno then the same “hot as hell” 230km trip home again....damn these cars aren’t made for driving in the sun.

Found some pics on the web from last car meet when waiting for the tuner.

Less power on this dyno but i think this dyno is very accurate (have been on two other dynos before). But i have a nice curve.

@moelk  Nice A/F.  What jets, chokes, fuel level etc are you using?

Looks like they had smoothing on.

Very similar to @blodi's

Lowspeed 55 F8

Main155

Air 160

Tube F16

Acc 45

Choke 36

But i had some problems at around 2500-3000rpms and the tuner adjusted something that made it a bit better will check tomorrow.
