Vintage Datsun / Nissan Posters

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be nice to have one thread show original vintage posters. Here are a couple I have. I plan to get the East African Safari Rally and the Frisselle posters framed.

Here are some pictures of other old posters that someone sent me. He sold the posters long ago. Notice the original red paint scheme on the Bob Sharp 240z in the middle picture.

FYI, Popular Science has just put it's entire 137 year archive online in searchable format thanks to Google Books! This means literally hundreds of period car ads from the last century are available for discovery.

PopSci Archives

I just did a quick search for 'Datsun' and turned up these:

That's pretty cool I used to get Popular Science as a kid in the 60's

Still looking for 70-78 Datsun Z posters or or race Photos of the same.

Thanks,

Greg

I have the old motorsports catalogs and they show those old posters.

I also have two posters that hang in my garage. they were both drawings that are sweet.

One is the Baja 510 poster and the other is the 240Z John Morton car on the curve. BRE has the newer update on his website - the story is as follows:

My neighbor had a 510 2 door orange he bought new since his wife worked at one of the Aurora, Illinois Datsun parts warehouses. They might have been a dealer item and he tossed them in the trash. (point is I always looked at that 510 as I walked home from school)

My dad was walking and grabbed them. they are on an 1/8" foam board and are about 24" x 30" (or so). I love them and once put them on ebay for $250 each and of course they didn't sell.

I will get some pictures when I get back in town this week. Similar to this one but not exactly and kind of like the second one

Does anyone have a copy of the Bob Sharp/Paul Newman Z poster that was given away at camera stores in the late 70's? It was basically an ad for the Cannon AE-1.

IIRC, the car was going from right to left. The poster was oriented as a portrait (as opposed to landscape).

I had 3 of them side by side on my bedroom wall. We would go watch Paul Newman race at Road Atlanta. Good times.

Bumping an old thread as I been trying to track down some of the vintage posters and origins for record keeping. I need more of the Nissan Comp books to see when some posters were available to the public.

Post pics of what you have!
