If you did not have your Z....

Recommended Posts

got rid of a my '73 10 years ago and got this shortly thereafter. looking for a way to dupe the wife into letting me get another Z. i'd even be happy w/ a 2000 roadster. hmmm, an old Dino would be nice, or a late 356, or ...

Love the Alpha, have always wanted one -- something about my being half Italian and the car is just sexy. There was a shop nearby that specialized in them when I lived on Lake Union in Seattle. For American iron, of course I loved the Corvette from Route 66 with Marty Milner and George Maharis (sp). I watched those shows in reruns when I was a kid, at least I think they were reruns. Not sure at 6'6" whether I'd be a good fit. For something practical a nice BMW 2002tti w/ sunroof. I'm German, French and Czech on my mom's side and not particularly fond of any French cars I can think of and not sure the Czechs make any at all unless they were making FIATs under license.

I had some cars in my life

I had a 1991 Lotus Elan, a 1986 Alfa Spider, a 1988 Escort RS Turbo, a Alfa Romeo Sprint, a Porsche 924, and the 240z... and now after some years "inside" this matter of old cars, i just prefer have my 240z complete rebuild and reliable and have some fun driving it.

Besides that i must say that driving my LOTUS ELAN, was fantastic for a 1.6 liter and 165HP and 800 kg... faster like a Mercedes Benz 500SE - "English magazine - 1992"

After crash i tried to by another, will see....

Pic_2715_4.jpg

Besides that i already drive 911 turbo with 420 hp, really fast, BMW 850 I, but still like my 240z, it`s a easy and low cost maintenance :classic:

Petrol costs over here are very expensive...

Gaaa. Don't get me started. I've already got 1970 Suburban that needs wiring run, a Z that needs a paint job, a 510 that needs an SR20DET and an L31ET that needs a body shell to reside in.

Maybe I could squeeze in a Volvo P1800?

That's a sweet looking P1800. A little too much tire stagger for me, but otherwise very cool!

Zedyone_kenobi, a friend of mine had a Junior GT when we were all far too young to appreciate it. Got it for a song as the used car dealer selling it didn't know any better either, LOL.

Best handling car I've ever driven and amazingly quick. Maintencance was a chore (12 quarts of oil for a 1.6 litre four-banger, LOL) and don't even think of adjusting the valve clearances yourself.

All in all WAY too much fun...his next car, in order to keep his license, was a VW Bug, LOL.

I've always been partial to the P1800ES Wagon personally. I just love the glass hatch.

If I had to add to my list it's be a Porsche 928. Another of my dad's old cars:D

If I didn't own my Z?

I'd still own my Suzuki DRZ-400SM

Drz007.jpg

or maybe I'd get another Triumph Thruxton

Or wait, is the question "if I could any car ever made in the world, what would I own"?

DougN, I too share time with my '71 MGB. I sure would like to have a big Healey!!!!

Isn't that a sad picture of an AH 100-4? The guy won't sell and he just lets this and several other British cars just rot!

When I bought my first Z, I was hunting for an early 911 project car as well, so I guess it would be a that.

Upgrade might be a Type E.

Other ones of interest from time to time are early 70's Celica and 90's Supra TT.

If I could afford it... A 246 Dino, Lambo Muiria or a GT40 replica. Still out of my price range, but within reach: a Sunbeam Tiger or Cobra replica...

Within actual price range...

- really liked my 1960 MGA. Also like TR6's, older Alfa's and late 90's RX7's. I also agree with Johhny Rock on the Volvo P1800 Wagon's that they great looking cars.

yesterday with sunshine and high 60 to low 70 temps, i left the z under the cover and rode around town in the roadster with the top off. it is a 1969 2000 with solex carbs, b series cam, headers, and k & N filters. reallly fun to drive, and most folks have never seen one around here.

would love to have several of the cars pictured or described, but i am running out of driveway space to park.LOL

My alternative cars would be a 91-95 MR2 twin turbo or one of the rare supercharged 80's versions, 85 Supra, 64-68 s800, 93 ZR-1 with 40th anniversary package, Sunbeam Tiger.

Mike,

Nice looking B! That is a sad picture of the 100-4 :( Seems to be common for people to sit on British classics and let them rot. I guess they still think they will get around to restoring it "one day" and see it that way in their mind's eye. Unfortunately, most do not get restored and by the time they finally admit defeat, it's usually too late for the car.

I used to want to "upgrade" to a big Healey, but then I drove one around for a bit. No where near as comfortable and fun as the "B", although you really have to love the beauty of the big Healeys :)

Your on......Can it be a model, otherwise I'm still short about 6-9 million....:D

Maybe I can just put Ferrari badges on my Z and tell the folks at the gas station it's a 250, since 1 out of 3 always ask me....."Is that a Ferrari"...

DougN,

That is exactly want this guy has done! He is never going to restore any of these cars. He also has a couple of Bugeyes in a storage building but he would let us see them. And, he is on oxygen.....

Glad you like the B.
