I found this club the other night it has some interesting info on the Skyline models.

http://www.gtrclub.org/c10.htm

Sadly, there are some easily spotted mistakes in the C10 and C110 sections.

Why do people keep saying that the S20 in the C10 was fitted with Webers from the factory? And the S20 was not simply a detuned GR8 either......... it is a little more complicated than that. GT-Rs were quite different in a lot more details than he realises too.

I realise that the writer's intentions are for the good, but these little mistakes get taken for truth and just proliferate on the 'net.

Sound like a stuck record, don't I? :cross-eye :tapemouth

If you don't keep sounding like a stuck record, the mistakes will become accepted as truth. We already know how hard it is to "right" the L24 story as originating from the L20A "with two cylinders added on"

Huh?? I'm still learning about the non-USA engines but isn't an L20A also a 6 cyl? Do you mean the L16 with two cylinders added on?

As you've probably noticed, for the large part these mistakes are the same ones, simply being accepted as truth and copied (borrowed) from site to site. There are heaps of sites with information about the classic Skylines, however most of the information is identical between them!

It looks like the only way to truly learn about these cars in more detail is to learn Japanese! If only I knew back in grade three what I'd be interested in now, I would have paid much more attention to Horrocks sensei.... LOL

Yeah, my mistake. I meant L16 with two cylinders added on. It was a late post and L20/L20A somehow got into my head at the time.

I stand corrected.

The L20B is the 4 cyl versions designation isnt it. Hence the 200B Datsun that was powered by the L20B?

Correct, in the US, the L20A 6 cylinder was never seen unless in those rare circumstances the car was brought in from a different world market.

The L20B 4 cylinder was very common in models sold in the US.

I had a 1977 200SX (S10 Sylvia) with a superbly built L20B with twin carbs and lots of Electramotive goodies.

It was a really ugly car on the outside, but had a nice interior and was wicked fast with the modded motor.

FWIW,

Chris A.

To this day I still wonder why people say "Sylvia"... I've never seen any Nissan documentation that has it spelt that way. Was it a US thing, or just a mistake? I'm not having a go at you Chris, just wondering! I guess it's the same reason why people call me 'Alphadog'!! I'd love an S10 (with the Japanese bumpers though :D).
