Combo switch or turn signal switches will run about 250 a pop. There are several threads on testing the circuits and cleaning contacts in the switches before you do anything drastic. You'd hate to buy a new switch and find out you have a short or a broken wire somewhere.

If your hazard flashers aren't working, I'd imagine you've probably got more of a wiring problem than a switch problem.

I remember running across a seller on eBay that will refurbish these things as well as wiring repairs. Let me see if I can find their eBay handle and I'll get back with you...

Yeah, I got some stuff done by azariar. I had my combo switch worked on by him. It cost $200 to disassemble, clean, lube, & re-assemble. He ain't cheap, but the guy definitely knows his stuff.

dammit now my headlamps blew out, they are brandnew. i tested my battery for shits and giggles ad its showing abotu 13.32 volts NOT running. i also noticed that the tops to the water compartment had come off... never seen THAT before...

so my immediatre solution was to go out and buy some driving lights and some fog lamps. both round and the good ones. hopefully whe it gets dark and i aim them, it will be kosher untill i get the regular lamps fixed..

any ideas what the hell is wrong? oh my horn stopped working also.

***NOTE***

all fuses are good

Have the alternator (and voltage regulator if external) tested by an automotive electrical shop, preferably while it's in the car. Not just AutoZone or similar, but a real electrical specialist. I'm wondering if your system is being wildly overcharged and it is frying all your stuff.

Jay,

It sounds like you might have an overvoltage situation. Check the voltage at the battery again with the car running and tell us the reading. The tops of your battery would come off only if someone took them off or if pressure built up in the battery (hydrogen gas formation during the charging process). The headlights will also blow out if they get too much voltage.

As for your fuses, did you check them for continuity with the fuses pulled out of the fusebox?

Steve

agreed,

sounds like an overcharge situation.

i'd zero in on the voltage regulator since it sounds like you're redirecting too much voltage to the battery/electrical system.

if you're popping the cell covers off be very careful with any kind of spark or ignition source under the hood. hydrogen gas is produced when charging, and we have all seen footage of what happened to the Hindenberg.

I have seen batteries explode just starting the car so PLEASE exercise EXTRA caution when the hood is up. I always turn away from the engine when someone starts any car (hood up) after witnessing that.

you can't drive the Z if you're blinded from battery acid.
