Value of original early R180 LSD 4.11 diff?

Recommended Posts

I have the early NISMO diff (R180, LSD, 4.11 r&p, bolt-on flanges) in my 71 240Z (ex BRE modified car according to Rodger at ZBarn). It is in excellent condition. If I keep it I need to change out the flat mustache bar to move the diff back and install the other required pieces. I would consider swapping in a R200 for the CV axles but wonder if that would be a mistake. I regress...

Anyhow, what would my apparently rare R180 be worth? I know the value would be directly proportional to a buyer creating A BRE copy or performing a BRE restoration.

350-400 usd minimum. Keep in mind that an LSD r180 will be stronger and hold up to more abuse than a peg leg r200.

No, no, no, these guys are steering you all wrong. I tell you what. I have a R-200 with the half shafts that I'll trade you fair and square for that old, outdated R-180 lsd. I'll even pay for shipping to make it even. :) . Send me a PM.

Keep it in your car! But since people are into trading, I will trade my 4:35 LSD R200 (12m.m. bolts) straight across for your diff. I would like to go back to an R180 and 4:11 is the perfect gear ratio.

As far as the value; I could be way off here but, in good shape and rare and desireable = $1000+.

After much thought I've decided to keep this diff. I appreciate the offers, well, some of the offers anyhow to purchase or trade. As I've read more and more it seems that the CV's aren't any stronger than U-joints as a norm. I'll try to locate some solid U-joints and hope for the best. I may look into having flanges machined that will take a Dana 60 U-joint (massive) instead of the CV conversion. If so, I could run CTMRacing solid U-joints (brutal).

FYI I just sold my 4.375 R180 LSD for $650.-

I didn't want to part with it but need the $$ for a full tranny rebuild

& we just bought our first house... no LSD but at least the Z will now have its own garage and will no longer be parked in the street.
