Hey Guys! I have some sport mirrors for a 280z where the glass/lense is is pretty rough condition. Do you know if glass this bad around the edges is able to be cleaned up? If not do you know where to get replacement glass? I feel like buying original new sport mirrors is a little on the unnecessary side due to cost, and that I already have good bodies. The aftermarket plastic ones don't interest me that much either. Just trying to find a way to clean these guys up! Thanks in advance Here is a photo

Per my attached pictures, I am having a problem getting the driver's side of the hood to sit down flush with the mating fender. I tried adjusting and readjusting the hinges, but that really didn't help. My question is: does it make sense to take of the left torsion bar that connects to the left hinge and readjust/bend/reform so that the hood will sit flat? When the hood is down, the front left side sits up right over where the hinge is. You can push down on the hood at that point, but it will want to spring back. Anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? These last 2 pictures show that the torsion bar that goes under t…

I'm looking for the measurement from the crest of the main bodyline to the crest of the lower bodyline. The measurement needs to be taken with the tape measure perpendicular to the bodylines so that one end is right at the wheel well lip and the other end is right at the front of the quarter panel. The main bodyline has lost its definition and I really can't tell where the center line is anymore. Thanks

Converting my 280z to the 240z bumpers, but trying to keep some of the original style of the car. I love this version of the car from Ryan Labrosse out of Canada who kept the 280z stock lower valence, but his car is one of the few examples I have seen like this. Does anyone else have this style setup? (if yes, pictures please) If you do have this style, would you do it again? Pros/cons? If not, any reasons to not go with this style? https://www.instagram.com/ryanlabrosse/

There was not much left of the top layer of the rear hatch sheet metal above the tail light panel. I have fabricated some patch panel pieces for the bottom layer which was not too badly rusted out. The only decent section of the top layer was the actual latch area in the center. I have seen the repair panels offered by several suppliers and it would seem to be a fairly straight forward process of fitting, clamping, and welding. With the exception of the cosmetics of the panel, has any one fabricated the piece with just straight sheet metal and cutting out the center latch hole area using the original latch area as the template? I would rather spend the sheet met…

Hopefully two quick questions. Does anyone know what the term is for this part? For the rubber bump guards on the side of the car, are these either adhesive or riveted? Or some combination of both? Started pulling at the back and it looks like adhesive for at least the first 6cm or so, but didn't want to start pulling if there is likely to be a rivet in the middle.

Hi Guys, Just dropped the rear bumper on my 280z. There are now 3 holes on either side of the trunk by the spare tire where the crash bumper bracket came through from the bottom. What did you guys do to close the holes to keep exhaust from coming back in? Will add a photo tomorrow in case my description is confusing, but tonight I need to try to convince my daughter to go back to bed. 😛

Without meaning to shill for this vendor, they have really taken the Z restoration process a completely new level when compared with the bad old days of Tabco-or-make-your-own. I just checked their website and was pleasantly surprised to see that they've pretty much doubled their range of Z repair panels from the time when I last checked in 2020 (the 240Z catalog now includes 44 items). Some of the noteworthy additions: radiator bulkhead front inner fender patch panels, c/w separate 'pocket' piece for the crossmember join area and separate 'doubler' panel for the K-box area firewall repair panels (lhs and rhs) battery tray - separate, or c/w in…
