Is there a suitable alternative to the OEM Nissan head gasket? I'm having a rough time finding one through a dealer. Even our usual local Nissan dealer who can usually get them says they can't. Perhaps the OEM part's days are numbered. I have a master gasket kit from ITM engine components for little gaskets like oil sump, water inlets etc. , but I'm not sure if I can trust the head gasket. OEM Nissan head bolts are on the way. It's stock '82 block/head. No mods. Sent from my N9130 using Tapatalk

I have my P79 head back and ready to go, but I won't be installing it for another 2 months. The valve cover is at a friends house, so I have nothing to put over it while it's on the bench in the garage. If I squirt regular motor oil on everything, will it be okay to sit there? Or should I use something thicker like that Lucas stabilizer or similar? Sent from my N9130 using Tapatalk

I picked up a pair of these half shafts to go with an r200 diff with an OBX. I have found a place that still carries the CV boots but wondering if this is a rebuild that can be done by a backyard mechanic? How the heck do you get into the inner boot? Thanks, Chris

I'm steadfastly trying to restore everything on my 280zx to original stock condition as much as possible. And, the restoration crew is putting things back together now. I have attached two photos of the brake line that's under the engine compartment and I'm trying to determine the original color of the brake lines. Can any one help with identifying the original color of the brake lines? It looks like the brake lines have a green-ish color. The white spots are probably from dampness and corrosion. Engine an drive train are out. Yes, they already scratched the new engine compartment paint job. But, do you have any idea what the original color of the brake lines ar…

With today's gasoline, should I revise the timing curve for my S130 1981 280ZX? If so, can someone provide appropriate information? My plan is to use 91 Octane fuel without additives. I can get it here locally. Engine is designed for "Unleaded Fuel Only" as labeled outside of the fuel filler.

I had my L28 engine on my 81 280ZX freshly rebuilt. I am reaching out to the community to see if it is good to use 0W40 or 10W40 full synthetic oil on a fresh rebuild?

280ZXT ready to install my diff up under the car--with the new OBX unit installed--question is should I install the c rings into the differential spline groove then the axles or put the c rings on the axles first.? When I removed the axles the c rings stayed in the diff grooves. Thought I'd ask someone that's done this a few times before I get this heavy unit up under the car? If rings should go in the diff first I'd rather tackle this on the floor. It was a bear getting the axles to break free of the rings. Thanks Dave

I have a 1980 280zx. It has over 350,000 miles on it. I'm looking to rebuild with a upgraded performance kit. Any recommendations on type and where to purchase the rebuilding kit. Also, any specifics on cam choice. I'm not looking for drag racing. Just a stronger road car. Thank you. E. Lundy

I finally bought the Z car I always wanted (well I can't afford a 240) a 1979 280ZX (which was the year I went in the Navy and while other guys had Z cars I had a 1974 Ford Country Sedan Wagon . Just drove it home and after running fine for about 20 minutes when I got on the freeway it started to "jerk" by losing power going up a slight incline and then surge back gradually going from 65 to 40 mph. I tried to nurse it home but it got worse until it was doing it on the level road and I finally pulled over and got a tow. Called the guy I bought it from and he suggested the fuel filter which looks new (he took the car on trade) but I'm going to go get one and replace it. …

Hi Guys this is my 1st post in the forum. I really don't have any good suggestion for my question! I decided to buy LUK clutch kit which fit to my car 1980 280ZX but the flywheel not included in the set I made a search and I didn't find good flywheel. I found aluminum light weight but my friends didn't recommend it. I found Sach flywheel which is fit to 1980 280ZX 2+2 . its different than base 280ZX what do you guys recommend? I am thinking to buy 1980 280ZX 2+2 clutch kit and flywheel and fix it to my 1980 280ZX will that work?
