Hey everyone, my 77, which is bone stock, burns my eyes on deceleration while in gear. The exhaust fumes are so bad that they burn my eyes, but this is only with the drivers side window down and only while decelerating in gear. Anyone have thoughts as to what may be causing this?

The exhaust hangers both metal and rubber parts were absolutely toast on my 280/ The local shop where I get exhaust work done is great on big Detroit V-8's, not so much and Datsun's. They looked at the car and got the deer in headlight look when I said I need new hangers for custom exhaust they are building, any idea's for building new hangers?

Hey guys. I was was wondering what is recommended. I currently have tuned ceramic tuned MSA headers running into 2 1/2 inch pipe that reduces down to 2 inch at a dynomax 1 in 1 out muffler. The engine is just the stock 2.4L engine with the head milled once. I Used to have a cherry bomb glass pack and loved the sound but it didnt generate enough back pressure and my low end power suffered. My chief complaint with the current muffler is that it does not mount flush under the body, a bit of it hangs down and its just an eye sore to me. Its not a mounting issue as it is mounted as high as can be but due to its length, as the body lines on the rear low quarter panel curve upwa…

Does anyone know where I can get a new set of downpipes for the stock 1973 manifold? Do I have to get them custom made? Has anyone done that, and what did it cost? If I can't get new downpipes for a reasonable cost, my only options are: 1) Headers, or 2) Find an older exhaust manifold and use the MSA exhaust kit (MSA doesn't make it for 1973 manifold). Any other ideas? Thanks!

So, i got under my car, took a look-see and i found a few rusted out holes in my exhaust piping. Rather than deal with a bad sounding car when it COULD be so beastly i'm planning on replacing the whole exhaust system. However, i've spent the better part of the day trying to find some places to buy off the internet and haven't found ANYTHING. I'm really hoping someone else has done the research in here and can link me to the sites i need. Black dragon and thezstore.com weren't much help =/

there are dozens of exhaust posts out there, but i couldn't resist adding to the mix... just finished rebuilding a good portion of my motor (n42 head, shaved intake, new injectors, etc. new cam chain/sprockets) and put on an msa 6-2-1 header. after reading up on other peoples experience i decided to have a local shop build a 2 1/2" system for me. we put her up on the lift and mapped out the routing - these cars are sooooo simple, just one run back and a couple of bends - but it's the little details that make or break it for me. went with alumanized steel piping to an 18" sst ansa resonator in the tunnel and a nice compact can at the back and a polished sst tip with a …

I read a couple of threads, but didn't find my situation. I have an L28 (N47 head) in my 240Z. Can I put a square hole exhaust manifold from a 240Z on the round hole N47 head? If so, will it bolt right on. ADVICE REQUESTED: I have a header on the L28 right now, but the heat is extreme. Here IMO are my three options: Wrap the header (about $80) Have it ceramic coated (about $300) Remove header and install the 240Z manifold (if it will work) ($0) What are your thoughts? Cost is not really the issue, but thought I'd share costs.

My 72 240Z needs a new exhaust system, including a replacement for its old Hooker header, and I am very confused as to what is best. My car is in stock condition, and will remain so for the time being. I would like decent quality, trouble-free installation, a deeper "sporty" tone (not a raspy "ricer" noise), and performance at least on a par with the original stock system. Forum threads have run the gamut. Choices mentioned include: (1) various MSA setups, (2) Monza/Pacesetter, (3) local muffler shop "custom" do-it-yourself. I have heard of no other options. MSA systems concern me because the pipe diameter is much larger than stock (2.5"), and some say this reduces …

Finally got the exhaust installed last night. I posted a link to the video on Photobucket. I've got MSA 3-2-1 Headers with the MSA Performance exhaust. http://s756.photobucket.com/albums/xx206/wvmiata/?action=view¤t=DSCN0368.flv Should have the remaining three body panels tomorrow, then I'll go get it inspected.

Stock '73 bottom end, 1980 L20aet head (F.I. turbo) with round exhaust ports and F.I. notches. SU carbs from P.O. conversion. Planning MSA 6-2 header, wondering what header/intake gasket to get. Seems like a common question but couldn't find the right thread. Been running this head for a few years with no problems other than carb/ignition tuning, it all bolted up OK. I can ask the mechanic what gasket he put but he might not remember. MSA catalog says use 77-78 280z headers for round port head. They say call about header gasket if using round port head with SU's but asking here first. Do the injector notches in 77-78 F.I. gasket matter ? Any other issues ?

Do they remake the stock downpipe by any chance? The one I have is done with. I was bidding on a brand new, never been used one on Ebay, and lost. Pissed off!!!! Any ideas????? Even a decent used one would do.

Again, we just had to make it! we spent time and money to reproduce this beautful piece of art for stock Datsun 240z cars. As it is shown in the picture here, it looks even better than original. This one is better seamless pipe design, compare with original hand pressed, rolled, and welded design. This pipe is handcrafted to look identical to original muffler tip for Datsun 240Z cars. Chrome is much better quality with todays technology. Very small quantity is available for limited production And I do not think we will be making a large quantity of them. (too expensive!) $175-free shipping for US main island/$28 for international shipping If anyone is interest…
