Hello my fellow Z friends. Boy it has been way too long since we have caught up. I was always getting updates on Zs on BAT, those were amusing for a while. However, I had step away from BAT as it was becoming real distraction at work! I still have my 71 Z and my 68 Roadster. We bought a lake house almost 2 years ago, and our time and money have gone into a couple of boats, a 4 wheeler, and furniture. It was awesome to be on the water and enjoying life at a slower pace for a while. I got a promotion at work (well I got a new job, with 4x the work, but unfortunately, not more money). They made the Subsystem Manager for Propulsiton on the Artemis Crew module. …

Has anyone heard from Jim Daniels (Zup) or Jim Smirlies (S30driver?)? I PM'd them a few days again and texted Jim Daniels today. They haven't been on the forum in over a year! I wanted to be sure my favorite Jim's were ok! C

As you can read from the title, I wanted to make a quick write up on how I got my Z to pass smog with flying colors and something that can help anyone diagnose why their car isn't. There is not a lot of write up on this either. I have a 1978 Datsun 280z. I ended up buying a second L28 with N42 block and N47 head (proper block and head for 78 280z). I performed a full rebuild on the engine along with restoring or replacing everything I can on the intake manifold. When it came time to smog the car, It failed due to high CO (Measured 1.84 on 25mph, max is 1.16) and HC was really close to being above the max also and NOx was practically 0 indicating my chambers are runni…

I found these on ebay and wanted to share in case anyone is looking for the two-wire type clamps. The heads aren't exactly OEM but for the price and the fact they come pre-zinced i think they are worth a shot. https://www.ebay.com/itm/403644655801?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=apbb2nwyrmc&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=a4d1fc-qQ9K&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I ordered a couple of sets and should have them in a few weeks as they slow boat it from china. Will report back on quality once I get them. I like that they have a wide range of sizes which can cover probably most if not close to all of the engine bay. They hav…

Hi Guys, My 280z has a rear slanted cardboard deck. The one which curves up. It hides all the stuff below. Also that deck sits at the edge and doesnt seems to leave any room for this panel. I dont believe this can fit the 280z with deck. Does anyonehas this on their 280z with slanted deck? whats the general consensus about this part? https://www.datsun-garage.com/products/tail-light-panel-1974-78-260z-280z-coupe-only

I am getting ready to start using the Copy-Cad system from Caswell. I have been on the Caswell plating forum for help getting the process lined out but their forum seems to be rarely used and many threads have no responses. I have also read through all the threads I found on the forum, I thought this thread could sort of be used to combine the working knowledge of the experienced platers (ajmcforester, motorman7, nix240z and any others) on here and I would add in where I could and my experiences as I go along. I spent a day with Steve (nix240z) with him showing me his process a couple of years ago and I am finally getting around to doing this. I have acquired the power su…

I bought a carpet kit from Chester and Herod. It came with jute for the floormats. I put jute under the seat like it had originally, but I did not know if the hatch had jute originally. I was thinking of putting jute under the hatch carpet for sound and gluing it to the carpet. I was wondering what others have done. Thanks

Just rebuilt my rack. Just a PSA regarding the rubber boots. The MOOG ones listed on rock auto will be way too big. These ones from beck/arnley, part number 103-2697, are a better fit. Not perfect, but definitely workable. I believe they’re technically for a Miata. About $15 each on Amazon. Just thought I’d share in case somebody else is having trouble finding something that fits… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I recently complete my restoration of my 73 240Z. I have no plans to do another one. I have lots of leftover parts. A few new but most used but in decent shape. A lot of the used stuff is in good condition but I figured once I had it off it was the same amount of work to install new. Most of the stuff I will give away for free if you pay shipping other stuff I'll sell at bargain basement prices. Here's a list of some of the things I have. If you're looking for something not listed let me know and I'll see if I have it. Unless otherwise noted all parts are from 72 & 73 Z's. Original kick panels Glove box interior, cardboard (New) Clutch slave cylinder…
