I recently completed a throttle cable conversion on my 77 280Z. Combined with my new throttle body, it's smooth as can be. Without going into all the gory details, here's some pics. Here's an overview pic. Cable come through the bulkhead and swerves a soft S-bend towards the master cylinders. This allows some slack in the cable to account for engine movement while running. It also allows clearance for the EGR valve if you are running one. My PO removed mine, but I may reinstall at some point so I wanted the cable to clear. Top level overview: Here's the bulkhead passthrough. I made a threaded adapter and sealing nut on the lathe. The flats allow me to get wrench…

For a few weeks now, They don't answer the phone (a number They hide) or respond to site-based emails. Surely, this cannot be Their idea of Customer Service. Anybody know?

I'm starting a discussion about the Z Restoration Program. Far too often, I see the program described as "Factory", have been guilty of using the F word myself, and objections have been justly raised in the past about the misleading term. I hope to gather accurate information about the restoration program in a comprehensive thread. Please refer back to the thread "wow-just listed". http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15893&page=1&pp=15 where this thread idea started. I want to assemble a comprehensive discussion of the subject. There are many aspects about this program that apply, such as the financial health of Nissan in 1996 and the discon…

I have been looking for a jack and wheel chocks for my 6/71 Z for a long time now, but I am not having much success. It was mentioned that the dates on these items are not necessarily close to the car manufacture date. I am curious to see how much they differ. If you still have your original jack and chocks (as best you know), can you have a look and post what you find? Just need the letters and numbers stamped into the base of the jack, and the letters or numbers stamped onto (ink) or in (indented) your wheel chocks and the month of manufacture of your car from the door tag. Thanks! Reference this thread for info on determining dates if you like:

No not going around in circles because it's springtime in Oregon but looking for the governor spring that goes in a 5/70 240Z distributor. When I took mine apart to refurb there was only one spring inside. Here's the part I'm looking for in case some kind Z-ster has one sitting around looking for a good home. It's part number 6 on the lower left of the diagram.

What is the easiest way to remove the float to check the level on 3 screw carbs? There is a machined ledge that the cap hits after removing the four screws. I circled the area in red in the photo. I loosened the nut that holds the float chamber to the carb to give me enough room but I was just wondering if there is an easier way. Thanks

Hey, I needed to refer to pictures of the master cylinder heat shield for 77-78? 280zs. I wanted to apply it to my 260, I would think that the brackets mount to the master/booster? If anyone has pictures that would be really helpful! Regards, Rama

Okay, new thread in my 1977 restoration, This journey began in Dec 2017 when I found this car for sale on EBay. Car was in Tupelo, MS but was sold at auction in Ca following a repossession. Car was in rough shape but the selling point was the lack of rust or body damage. Interior was a mess, no seats or carpets, engine was locked up and had a really nasty dash, I knew it was going to be a long haul but I really wanted a Z for a long time. I’d been actively looking for almost a year. That’s the background, I had a thread called “Bringing a 1977 280z Back to Life”. That thread, got my engine running and was very educational for me. I then bought a replacement L…

Looking for input on how and what do you use to direcct the exhaust out of your garage when you are running the car. Fans? hoses? trap door in the garage door for the hose? Living in Minnesota it is not to practical to run and work on the car in the garage in the winter. Thanks for all and any input.

Any chance someone could measure the distance between the two muffler hanger frame mounts? My Inboard mount was broken off the frame. Of course, I forgot to reweld it prior to undercoating, and I cant recall the exact location as I did too good a job repairing the area 🙂 Picture attached that i got off the net with the needed measurement as a red line. Second picture of the piece I need to weld. If you have a good picture of how it is oriented that would be great. Many thanks.
