240K AUTO TO MANUAL CONVERSION GUIDE What to do - and what not to do! Alright so today we had a crack at swapping the manual gearbox from my parts car 240K to my car which is currently auto. I decided to write this for two reasons - firstly to have a record of what we did in case I ever do it again and secondly to give you guys some tips if you do it... Anyway, firstly and definitely most importantly I'd like to thank some people. My good friends Steve and Victor for coming along to help with the whole thing and Victor's dad for lending us a big mother jack, tools and some jack stands. I'd also like to thank Peter (440K on these forums) for coming over on a Saturday …

It's quite interesting with these cars - we have one RB25DET conversion going on, a V8 monstrosity project, an SR20DET in the US and already one C110 converted to RB20 with triple webbers, among others... Quite a few different choices people have made! My engine is the original L24 still, and while it certainly sounds the part and goes alright it is getting a little tired and smokey. I'm on the verge of getting a full-time job which will change my lifestyle significantly and as such I don't really know what the future of my car is right now. What I do know is if I do get to keep it, I'll be swapping a different engine in. So I'd like to hear what you guys' opinions are on…

The L28R Engine 1 2 3 4

Years ago I owned a L28R engine that was purchased from a bloke who had imported it into Australia in a 2 door R30 Skyline from South Africa. It became clear that this was no ordinary engine. I asked Nissan’s Head Office if I could get the specifications and possibly a manual for my L28R engine. This was when it got interesting; They said they have never heard of such a beastie. I asked them to follow it up further. Two months past when they returned with an answer, well actually, it was a question: Where Did You Get This Motor From? I explained the history, to which there was a long silence at the other end. The Engineer at Nissan Australia’s Head Office explained that t…

Manual Pedal Box 1 2 3

I was just wondering if anyone knew if a Datsun 1200 Manual Pedal Box would be suitable for a 1974 240K? I'm wanting to convert my Auto to a Manual, and I'm unsure if these pedals will fit. Are the pedal boxes from dirrerent Datsuns compatible? Can they be modified to fit? I don't want to buy them and then realise they don't fit. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Hi Guys, has anyone looked into upgrading their rear Uni joints to CV joints? i got a quote of almost $2000 to get this done by a workshop, and seeing as there are some american 240Z/280Z quick and easy solutions to this issue, i was wondering if any of these would work for the 240K?? 280Z stub axles into 240Z : http://www.magshooterz.com/280z_stub_axle_swap.htm Z31 CV joint upgrade to match 280Z Stub's: http://www.magshooterz.com/z31_cv_conversion.htm my question is (of course), would the 280Z stubs fit in the 240K arms? and then would the Z31 conversion work for us?? Just wondering if anyone here has some 240K/240Z/280Z parts handy they can measure and compare, or…

I recently had the opportunity to run the C10 on Stewart Wilkins MotorSport chassis dyno. Racing 240Z's and Nissan L6's all over the place! Other than the obvious mods to the engine; triple 44 Mikunis Fujitsubo extractors and twin system lightened flywheel and/ or internals mild cam factory electronic ignition "Winged" sump (oilpan)* ..I don't know about inside as yet. Any and all mods were done in Japan by previous and unknown owners. It was sold at auction in Japan as having a 3.1 Litre (I.E.stroker) motor, I was told was done by Kakimoto. To drive on the highway, this motor seems torquey and willing, doesn't get hot and has never given any trouble…

Hey guys, OK so the auto to manual conversion is looming (I am planning 1st or 2nd weekend of January) and in preparation I'd like to gather up all the bits that I know I should buy/replace. So far I would consider: - Clutch - Spigot bearing (from Nissan?) - Flywheel (get it resurfaced somewhere probably the best bet?) - Clutch alignment tool (need to buy to put the clutch in properly, yes? Available from any Repco/Supercheap type store) Does anyone know where I should/could buy these parts from? I'd prefer good quality stuff - a meatier clutch if not too much more expensive too. I heard there was a good and cheap clutch man in Brisbane? Should I get anything else o…
