Has anyone solved the transition from the original 2 point lap sash seatbelt to installing a 3 point inertia reel seatbelt in a 240z?

Hi all, I own both the classic Haynes manual and Wick Humble's How To Restore Your Z-Car in print form, but I'm trying to find PDFs for purchase or download (if your copyright views of already-owned material swing that way). Does anyone know where I could find them? I'd love them in digital form to aid in access when in and around the shop or away from home. Plus them being easily searchable on my computer/iPad would be a productivity boon for me. Any leads are welcome! Please note I do already own both of these in various versions, so I'm not looking to do anything illegal here. Cheers, N.

Hi all, Does anyone have any insight on the different fonts used on the Series 1 AM radio faceplate for the numbers? I can see two styles: A more rounded sans serif font, as seen here, here and here (on the $310k BaT sale) A stenciled, almost "military" style block font, as seen here and here I'm unsure if it's factory differences, a different model (I've seen references of a Hitachi TM-1081 with different Z and B codes), or simply restoration work. Any information would be appreciated as I'm trying to acquire an original, correct radio for my 10/71 Series 1. Attaching images here also incase the links go dead in the future.

I was reading the service manual last night and thought it would be a good idea to have a form to track tune-ups etc. Has anybody created a form they use that is based on the Service Manual? If not I'll probably make a pdf or maybe a little database for the iphone. I'm sure a log book is enough, but I'm retired and can make something if it hasn't already been created.

This thread, is about gearoil and the aditiv Slick50 that came out in the 90's? Some stuff that has PTFE in it.. After 20 years of driving a 5 speed (30000km) the gears are making a lot of shifting noise.. again.. Going back from 4 or 5 to 2th is almost impossible to do. @Pilgrim you askt: Are you double - clutching your downshifts? I sure would be. It greatly reduces the work of the sync rings. I do it now by reflex on my ZX. I drive z and zx now for almost 30 years and never double clutched gears.. i have tried it with my problem gearbox but it's so bad it does not help much.. the gears seam to be rolling long after i activated the clutch.. …

I know the 1970 and 1971 240Z's came with a vinyl wrap around the bundle of wires at the right side of the console, perhaps the later models did as well. Recently I was requested to measure and photograph my OE wiring wrap so that a friend could have it reproduced. These photos and measurements may be of benefit to others to also get a wrap made. Note that the center of the wrap is wider than the top or bottom to accomodate the bulge of connectors in the middle of the wiring bundle. There are two darts cut into the fabric edge on each side to form the "curve".

In the process of installing this unit in the cab area of my friends z and the paper work from the manufacturer sucks. It shows for a small block Chevy. Anybody that can shed some light on how to mount the 2 brackets to the car would greatly appreciated. Mahaloz in advance. Aloha from WA. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Hello all! I have a 77280 with a “stroker” modified engine. PO replaced stock Throttle Body (with ZX?/larger intake?)and apparently the AFM (To fit the TB? current AFB has fuel pump “pins” “bridged” thus creating FP engagement w/ key “ON” rather than mechanical w/ engine and starter. Before I get “flamed”?..I recognize danger in wreck...this why desire to replace back to starter FP energize! Can I just unbridge pins and return to factory electrical wiring energize? Replace AFM? Must I replace AFM, and TB, to stock-will all wiring be back to stock, etc.? Plug and play with stock part(s)? Thank you, all!

Early '71 240. I am trying to find out the ohms reading for the fuel sending unit to fuel gauge. We have installed a AutoMeter Ultra Lite gauge that reads 0-73 ohms. Part of the problem is the person at Auto Meter states that 0 is empty and 73 is full. Then, I spoke with some one else at Auto Meter (for a different matter) and they say they own a 240, and the sending unit is 0-90 ohms but the gauge we installed is a 90-0 ohms. What is the ohm's on the 240 fuel sending unit? Which is the empty reading (should be 0 I believe). Thanks Ed

Hi folks, I could use your help. We have a 1971 Series 1 240Z in our shop. It is a Resto-Mod car. It is almost finished, waiting on some Weber jets to finish tuning. In the process of confirming the car will pass a road inspection we discovered the rear window defroster is not working. We also found the windshield washer motor is not working, have not looked into that issue yet. Everything else works as it is suppose to. The wiring harness and rear window defroster is from a series 1 car, the fuse box and rear window defroster switch is from a series 2 car. We have ran on ohms test on the defroster wires in the hatch, the switch and the wires from the switch to …

I've had my 83 zx in the driveway for over a year, haven't driven it on the road yet, more rust than car, but ready to start if I can figure out my problem. It runs and will move but before I start, I want to do away with the fuel injection and all the electronics. I found a 4 barrel intake, expensive but worth it to me. What should I do about the electronic ignition? I was thinking about points, but can't find a points distributor anywhere online. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I was going to swap out the 6 for a 350 but I've grown attached to the inline 6. I've looked everywhere for info on this and I'm just about ready to give up.

Like many people, I fell in love with the performance brake system from Arizona Z Car. The Wilwood brakes are great. I spoke at length with Dave from AZC and he promised me a working park brake solution (required to pass inspections here) for the kit “in a couple of weeks... I ordered the front and rear setup and patiently waited for the park brake solution. It never appeared. Two years of waiting and almost monthly calls and emails always ended up with “another two weeks”... At this point I became fed up with waiting and set about to find my own solution. After dealing with Silvermine Motors on some other key pieces, I noticed that Edan had developed a similar system …
