I have read almost every thread about tires and wheels but there isn't a clear answer to my question.. Is 195/60/14 too narrow to run on the 14x7 appliance mesh wheel? I've seen a bunch of responses that indicate it may be best to run 205 or 215's but my car has been lowered with a new suspension kit by 1.5 inches all around. It's a 1/74 260Z so I am unsure of rubbing issues. I have 195/70/14's on an old set of mesh wheels but I think they are only 6 inches wide. A second question is in regard to those appliance wheels...I picked up the Eagle center caps as suggested in another thread but they don't seem to want to fit. Do they need added pressure to snap in or should…

This weekend I had some time on my hands, so I refinished all 5 of my D hubcaps. I used Mother's chrome polish on the Chrome. I used SEM Landau Black on the D inserts. I taped the actual chrome D and then used an exacto knife to trim the tape. I used Duplicolor wheel paint. First time I tried the green 3m tape. I like it, much better than the blue painters tape. Although you can't see, there are some minor surface scratches on the outer chrome, but I think they came out great. I only attached a picture of one of the hubcaps. I have three big tab and two small tab hubcaps. Nice to have one spare. This weekend I tackle refinishing the steel wheels. What's the co…

On a 240, what is the part called where the brake hard lines run into it from the master cylinder and then out to the rubber lines for the wheels? It also has a wire that runs from it to the washer pump. It is held on by one bolt and it looks like nothing more than a junction block. What is it called? Do they go bad? Can I just clean it up, paint it, and put it back on? If not, who sells them?

So, let me start off by saying I have a fair amount of brake experience for someone who's never worked on cars professionally - I adapted a later dual-channel master to my wife's '58 Olds including building my own pedal with the correct 6:1 ratio, fabricating the plate to change the mount position, building the actuating rod, etc. In the course of doing this, I did a LOT of brake bleeding. I'm now trying to fix my '72 240z. Over my tenure owning this car, the brakes have ALWAYS been the problem. In fact, the previous owner told me that they were his biggest problem and he was tired of messing with them. He did a bunch of hokey stuff, including bolting the rear whe…

Ok i recently bleed the brakes from my 72 and that made front brakes work. Yesterday i lifted car up and hit the brakes while rear wheels were spinning. No effect. So could this be problem in the pressure regulator in brake lines? My buddy was bleeding the rear and i think there were no brake fluid coming from bleed nipple, he's even more newbie than i so.. Is it possible that the brake pedal stiffnes is caused by the same problem? It barely moves when i press it with full power, before bleed it was movable (well the brakes didn't work then at all) As i said before, despite that brake pedal is almost impossible to move, front brakes work fine. Thanks already.

Finally got some new wheels for the Z. They're the xxr 513's in 15 x 8 with 0 offset. I'm running 1 inch spacers in the front and 1.5" in the rear to fill up the flares a little more. The tires are Falken ZE-502's in 205/50 R15. I have the Tokico 5020 (5220?) front springs that lower it about an inch.

Ok - what am I missing here? The standard bolt pattern on the 1973 240Z is 4 - 4.5 (114.3mm) - but the rotors in all the places I've looked show a bolt circle of 4 - 103mm. Do they measure the pattern differently on a rotor than they do on a wheel? I do not want to order rotors and have them not fit. Any info would be appreciated!

I've looked every where and these things seem to be made of *Unabtanium* The Previous Owner of My New (to me) Green 12/71' 240Z BROKE the bleeders off the rear wheel brake cylinders. I actually found Stress cracks in the blocks from the bleeders being tightened too damn Hard. I can't even drill them out and seem to be screwed at this point...... If you have a spare set of the PRE-6/72 Rear Wheel Cylinders, PLEASE let me know what you'd like for them, if you'd like a Headlight Upgrade Harness for them or what. The car is in the air and stuck there till I get these situated. So Please look around your parts and see if you have a set of Left and Right early 72' brake Cyl…

My passenger side rear brake seized yesterday and I can't figure out the cause. It seized up after sitting overnight with the parking brake on. I took off the parking brake cable and this did not help. I then hit the drum a couple of times with a rubber mallet and I was able to pry the drum off of the shoes. All looks normal inside. The shoes move freely and they are well lubed. I spun the adjuster wheel a couple of times and put the system back together and now the car stops, goes and the parking brake works. What could have caused this? I took that brake cylinder apart a couple of thousand miles ago to check the condition of the piston and bore. It looked goo…
