The dashboard in my car had some serious cracks along the top but I couldn't pull the trigger to send it off for rework because of the cost. I wanted to try to repair it somehow though, I had to try something! Here's a few pictures of the cracks. Because of the limit on pictures in each post, I'll upload the balance of the pictures and the materials used after this. Bruce

I'm getting ready to replace the carpet in my red 240Z. I want to stay with the original style loop pile carpet, rather than the more modern cut pile. So far, I've found at least three suppliers for the loop pile, MSA, Too Intense and Datsun Spirit. Has anyone bought any loop carpet from any of these vendors recently? If so, what was the quality of the carpet kit? Did it come with replacement jute?

Hey Guys, I'm close to needing to get my dash restored for reassembling my '70. I'm not finding any postings on recent vendor experience with either Just Dashes or Dashboard Restorations USA. Can anyone who has had a dash restored by either in the last year or so give a testimonial as to quality and satisfaction? I stopped by Just Dashes a couple of years ago while in the Van Nuys area, and they appeared to do good work, although at the time they seemed expensive compared to Dashboard Restorations. That may have equalized some since I just got a quote from Dashboard Restorations for $850 which was Just Dashes price back then. Just Dashes hasn't responded to my inquiry yet…

Anyone else order the 280z dash? Hope so see it soon ordered 5 weeks ago, think it was 6-8 weeks for delivery IIRC. When I get it will take some pics, maybe do an install video. My OE dash is in pretty good shape just one big crack near the center starting from behind the clock nacelle, but the new dash was too hard to pass on.

How long does it take you guys to remove a 240Z dash? Any tips to make it easier, I did it on my 260z ground up resto but that was years ago.Unfortunately the 240's heater started to leak and I thought I'd have a CRACK at repairing the dash when the heater comes out.

In response to questions and requests on how to recover Z car seats I thought I would put together a post outlining my experience when recovering the driver seat in my ’72 240z. The job took me around 8 hours from start to finish but I worked in 1 or 2 hour increments. Stretching and fitting the covers is the hardest part and will give your hands, arms, and shoulders a workout. This is a job that anyone can do and is a worthwhile job to tackle yourself as many shops can charge $300 - $500 in labor to recover a single seat. The key is to take your time and walk away if you get frustrated or tired and constantly check your work to see how everything is fitting. If you …

Ok So I got tired of the very dim green dash and gauge lights for my 280z. I didnt see anyone on the forums so far doing this yet so I decided to take a crack at it. Gonna try and make this easy to follow and understand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you too are tired of having to squint in at your gauges when driving at night, then you might want to also consider this. Just some basic info: Most production cars use wedge type bulbs for gauge lights that twist out of the back of the gauge. These wedge bulbs also usually have a type of plastic coa…

This past spring the heater core in my 77 was leaking, so I bought a NOS aftermarket heater core off ebay as a replacement. I pressure tested it on the bench before installation and everything looked fine, so I put it in. Unfortunately, joy was short lived and by the end of the summer, the new one that I just put in was leaking. Again. Direct drop in cores are getting hard to find, and are expensive, so I started messing around with alternatives. I've been reluctant to mention it because the project isn't done and until the T's are dotted and the I's are crossed, there's the chance that something will come up that kills the whole idea. However, I'm going to jump the…

Howdy everybody... I just finished with the Honda blower motor upgrade for my 72 240z. I have got to tell you, this would be the best upgrade ever for my Z if it wasn't for Dave's Headlight relay harness upgrade. I'm telling you...on the setting low (the first setting from off) the output is just about equal to what it used to be on full. Yes, it's that good. I did it primarily for 2 reasons: 1. The stock heater fan's output reminds me of an early 70's Japanese car (duh)...in other words, this heater motor's output is very low in comparison to anything in modern times. 2. I plan on installing a new R134a A/C system this June..so I wanted to possibly get higher fan outpu…

I am in the middle of my fuel tank restoration process and have several queries: 1. Which is the exact or most precise color to primer and paint the full tank? Just plain semi gloss black in spray or should i brush it with POR-15? 2. Do i really need to replace all the gas tank hoses? Having difficulty on getting all of them. Have sent e-mails to MSA but they only have one available. I also send an e -mail to my dear friend Mike at Banzaiworks, who has really helped me a lot sourcing parts but he has none of those hoses. Anyone?

Just letting everyone know my experience. I purchased a can of gloss black duplicolor interior paint. I clean the door panel extremely well. I sprayed a small section and it looked GREAT! As it started drying, it started to lose its gloss. When it was fully dry, it was completely FLAT. Nowhere near a semi-gloss and looked worse then the factory color. I thought there was a possibility of the can lids being swapped out in the store so I went to a different autozone and purchased another can of gloss black. This was the same color as the first can. I decided I would not do the entire interior so I thru some turtle wax interior shine on the door. The painted area doesnt abs…
