Ok, so I drove my 280Z for the first time in 9 months today! Entire new front and rear suspension! Now I just have to work out the bugs. I had it up to about 60 for a stretch, and it wandered some. When braking from that speed, I had a high-speed shimmy. At lower speeds, (30-40), no shimmy. I have NOT had it aligned (just came off the jack stands about 3 hours ago). My steering wheel is also about 30 degrees off, so I didn't get things back the way they were before. But with all new tie rods (inner and outer), ball joints, bushings, etc., who knows how it was before! So anyway, if the toe is really off (either in or out), what symptoms would I expect to see?

Here is a great link to a "HOW TO" pictorial of replacing Rear Wheel Bearings on an S30. It has a lot of pictures so it will take a bit of time to fully load, but it looks to be a very good resource. I saved it to my hard drive in case it disappears from the Net before I get around to doing this job. If anyone who is experienced with doing this job cares to comment on the tutorial, those of us who haven't done it will appreciate your "constructive comments". :classic: Replacing S30 Rear Wheel Bearings

I've been doing a lot of research on this site and others to decide what combination of struts and springs to get. I've never seen a post that summarizes all the options, so I thought I'd write it up. I'm not an expert on the subject, so this post will be information drawn from the posts of notable experts. I'm hoping that writing this summary will help me organize my thoughts and perhaps draw out some advice on something I'm missing. So...here goes. First off, my car is stock, although it has fully poly bushings. My intended use is street use only. I may someday take my car to the track and get some lessons, but I doubt I'd ever be serious about tracking it. My c…

For those who have used a spindle pin removal tool, I have a few questions. First, did the tool work, and if so, how hard was it to get the pin out? Please give tool details as well. What worked well, and what could be improved? Did the tool have a bearing, greased washers, or ??? The reason I ask is that I'm about to make my own removal tool, but I want to build a better mouse trap, so to speak. Rather than using hardware store all-thread, I was considering buying acme thread rod to make the tool. I figure that 3/4" - 6 acme rod will make the tool much more efficient than standard threaded rod. A friend just loaned me a tool he bought online and it worked for him…

Can someone throw me a quick figure as to how much a rear toe adjustment should cost. This is referring an earlier post about one of my tires being angled inwards, and needs to be adjusted. Ball park. My car is in the shop and need to decide based on the cost. Thanks!

My dad and I have been talking about lowering my car for some time now and I figure something something like this might be a good x-mas idea. Any how, I've been trying to read up on what I can about lowering springs and it seems like the Eibach's have gottan pretty good reviews from what I've read and seems to be the choice of what most people choose for a lowering kit. I was curious how these compare to some of the other lowering springs out there such as Tokico and European lowering springs? Which brand(s) works best with the stock shocks of the car? From what I've read atleaste, it sounds to me like the Eibach's are the way to go for a lowering kit, but mainly first w…

Doing a complete refresh/restore of a 73 this winter. Project is being done by a restoration shop owned by a highly skilled/experienced/knowledgeable car passionate. This Z will be my primary week end ride next summer. Everthing is going great so far and level of service and workmanship is first class. Wish to have all bushings replace by poly bushing (Black dragon #62-455). I am being told by the restore shop that unless i plan to race the car this type of mod is not worth the money spend and will actually discomfort/harsh my ride to an unpleasant point for my 47 year old body... Any help/comment appreciated.

Anyone know of a good website on installation of G/C coilovers on the 240Z? The instructions provided by G/C are a little lacking in detail.

@Joseph@TheZStore @James@TheZStore http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/10-2261 The Motorsport store shows these bushings but they have been out of stock for a while. Are you expecting more or working on an aftermarket source for these? Thanks, Charles

What type of oil do you put in the strut cartridge before you install the shock? I've read transmission fluid works. Or is this something that is not too precise?

I'm rebuilding the suspension (bushings, springs, shocks, etc.) on my 9/73 260Z and I just ran into something unsettling. I installed Tokico HPs and Eibachs which are both listed as compatible with the 240Z and early 260Z. When I put in the HP inserts, the gland nuts almost bottomed out. They are tightened but very close to the strut top even with the gland nut spacer. But this is not the main problem. While I was putting the springs on I noticed that my 260Z spring perch sits noticeably lower than the 240Z struts I have to compare with. I decided to go on anyway, because the springs are listed as the same for the 240/260Z (early). I installed the struts on the car (ARB …
