For those who have used a spindle pin removal tool, I have a few questions. First, did the tool work, and if so, how hard was it to get the pin out? Please give tool details as well. What worked well, and what could be improved? Did the tool have a bearing, greased washers, or ??? The reason I ask is that I'm about to make my own removal tool, but I want to build a better mouse trap, so to speak. Rather than using hardware store all-thread, I was considering buying acme thread rod to make the tool. I figure that 3/4" - 6 acme rod will make the tool much more efficient than standard threaded rod. A friend just loaned me a tool he bought online and it worked for him…

I have an issue where I have the same tires and rims on the front of my 73 240z but upon reassemble after frame rail rebuilding I'm noticing that the passenger side tire looks fine but the drivers side tire is rubbing against the spring seat. When I didi the repair I maintained the exact front crossmember hole placement and everything lined up and bolted up fine. This was not an issue prior to taking the from suspension and cross member apart so I'm wonder what could be so far off. Shouldn't both sides be equal distances?

Here is a great link to a "HOW TO" pictorial of replacing Rear Wheel Bearings on an S30. It has a lot of pictures so it will take a bit of time to fully load, but it looks to be a very good resource. I saved it to my hard drive in case it disappears from the Net before I get around to doing this job. If anyone who is experienced with doing this job cares to comment on the tutorial, those of us who haven't done it will appreciate your "constructive comments". :classic: Replacing S30 Rear Wheel Bearings

I am having a problem with my suspension on my project car I can not figure out. The Rear passenger side wheel is sitting 2-1/2" lower than the driver side. My front passenger side is sitting 1" lower than the driver side. I have replaced all control arm bushings, new struts and new springs, nothing has fixed the problem. I am thinking I have something tweaked on the frame of the car at this point. I have attached pictures of the rear tire clearance for a visual. Any ideas would be appreciated. If it is the frame, is it possible to fix the problem?

Hi guys, I just bought my set and figured i'd pass the deal along. 3 sets left. Even if you don't like the Tokico springs, it still comes out cheaper than any store for the Illuminas by themselves. The need to extract my rear strut inserts had me facing the same challenge as many other owners needing to replace the struts on their classic Z, removing the dreaded gland nuts. More often than not they are seized on due to years of use. Worse, it seems to be the best method for getting them off by using two opposing pipe wrenches can also be the most damaging. I went through this same exercise with my 1972 lime green 240z several years ago and vowed this time would be different. I remember seeing an workshop manual showing how these were installed at the factory using a special made socket and wrench. I searched for a long time to find an 8-point socket of any kind…

Can someone throw me a quick figure as to how much a rear toe adjustment should cost. This is referring an earlier post about one of my tires being angled inwards, and needs to be adjusted. Ball park. My car is in the shop and need to decide based on the cost. Thanks!

Well today I got back into the Z after almost a year of playing solely with the roadster. Man it was nice to show some love her way. Well my first hour of work went swimmingly I got to here rather quickly. I managed to get all of the parts off rather easily. My lower control arm pin, looked brand new so I think at some time it was replaced, so I did not mess with it. I will save that mamma jamma for later Well anyway, I have been thinking my struts were kaput for a while as they are at least 18 years old according to the receipt from the PO. Here is what pulled out. And it came off without any fuss at all. I think the gland nut is stuck to the…

@Joseph@TheZStore @James@TheZStore http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/10-2261 The Motorsport store shows these bushings but they have been out of stock for a while. Are you expecting more or working on an aftermarket source for these? Thanks, Charles

While I have the front end all out in peices, is there any work I can/should to do on the steering rack? I am ordering new bushes and ball joints, and will probably wire brush the surface rust from the rack but other then that? Add grease I suppose, is there any need to clean out the old grease and how much do I use? What type? Is there any harm in coating the splined coupling to the steering shaft after wire brushing it to remove the rust? Also does anyone know what the coloured paint signifies on the steering rack? Some sort of factory marking. I have one rack with a white brush marking and another with a pink brush marking. Thanks

Hello all, I'm considering doing the "Upgrade" to an 81-83 ZX Close Ratio transmission. I have the orig. 1977 5 speed now. It won't be till the weather gets nice again. I live in MN. so I still have her in storage right now. I know that they are a direct bolt in and that I'll have to use the orig. '77 shift lever but I just thought I'd ask those of you that have already done this if you got any pointers or tips??? Also do any of you have any good leads on where to purchase them?? Thanks

I've gone thru and replaced all of the "soft goods" pieces of my front suspension ('71 Series II) and have finally got it all reassembled. I should have bought L & R stamps and stamped everything as I took it off because, ultimately, I got it all mixed up but finally sorted in the end. All back together now but a couple of questions. The compression rods that locate the transverse link have tightened up at different locations. The left side is even with the nut, the right side is about a half inch further out. I measured the distance between the lower control arm and the frame mount on each side and it's the same. Is it possible the rods are two different len…
