  1. What's new in this club
  2. I am interested in talking to members from the Oregon area Z Car club (http://datsunsnw.org) to see if there is any interest in becoming a “sister” club to the Edmonton Z Car Club (http://www.edmontonzcarclub.com/pages/main.html)! We are interested in partnering with another group to do meets and fun runs. We would love to see if both of our memberships would be interested in driving to each other’s locale in alternate years. The route takes us through some great national parks and the awesome Rocky Mountains. Let me know if there is any interest! I am one of the vice-presidents of the Edmonton Z Car Club.

    Thanks so much for the complete story on emissions testing. My car is presently insured as a daily driver, so I will need to go back to collector car insurance which I have used in the past but did not like the use restrictions. I have joined the Desert Z Association, so that was a step in the right direction to get in touch with local owners.

    Gary, There is still emissions testing for metro Phoenix and Tucson. Exemptions include "model year 1966 and older vehicles and vehicles designated as “collectible” (requires collectible vehicle insurance, reported to Arizona Motor Vehicle Division by insurer)". So if your 240 is a daily driver, you will need to get it tested. Also, if your vehicle is registered outside of Phoenix but you use it to commute to anywhere in the city, then it will need to be emissions tested (provided you are not exempt as above). So arm yourself with your Hagerty, Grundy, etc. insurance policy before heading to your local MVD office to register. The MVD also do a cursory safety inspection (clipboard walk around) if the vehicle is being registered from out of state (at least they did 10 years ago when I registered mine). My take at the time was that if the vehicle looked roadworthy (read shiny and looked after) then the inspection was a formality. Good luck!

    Welcome to the club, do they still have emissions testing in Phoenix? I thought they would have a classic car exemption like they do in CA.
  10. Hey there, I need some contacts in the Phoenix area, having just relocated from Sacramento, CA. I have a '72 240Z in pretty good shape (but no AC)! Any advice on registration and especially emissions testing would be greatly appreciated! Happy to be here! Gary

    Need help in the Seattle area

    Hi Bill I go to Seattle every couple of weeks or so, It is about an hour & a half North of where I live. I just picked up a pile of parts a couple of weeks ago, so I wasn't really looking.... but if the price was right maybe.

    Need help in the Seattle area

    @Terrapin Z Do you get out there often? Thanks to the others for jumping in, too. I talk to them yesterday, they're cleaning out more "stuff" so the house can go on the market this weekend, and it looks like the only parts are the transmission, carbs, and some springs, maybe a rear strut assembly with drum? I'm attaching a pic that they sent to me. I'd like to sell the parts to someone out there so the girls can have the cash and I don't have to deal with shipping, etc. Thanks again for the help. -Bill

    @Mark Maras too far?
  19. Hi all, I need some help with a car that I'm inheriting from my brother-in-law's family, the car is located in Mountlake Terrace, north of Seattle, Washington. Regrettably, by brother-in-law passed away last year, but his daughters want me to have his 240z to keep it in the family. I live in the Chicago area and I want to have it shipped here. The car hasn't run for more that 20 years, but is in very good shape and rolls easily. I'm arranging for a shipper (suggestions are welcome) but he also had some spare parts that I don't think I want to have shipped. I'm still getting details, but it looks like he had a series-1 transmission, maybe some SU carburetors, and other miscellaneous parts. I might be able to fly out and get things sorted, but if there is someone in that area who can go over to look through the parts that would help a lot. We could probably make a good deal to whoever can make it there. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible on his daughters, they're putting the house up for sale and have a lot on their hands, and minds. Please contact me at boakes@gmail.com Thanks Bill Oakes

    Any Vancouver, WA area members?

    I'm in Portland just across the river. What did you find?
  22. Hi there! I'm looking at purchasing a 240z in the Vancouver, WA area. Unfortunately, I'm all the way across the country, so I was wondering if there was anyone in this community that lives in that area that could take a look at the car for me and provide an independent opinion on it. Please let me know! Thanks in advance.

  24. Come on over, Mike. I guess I'll see you about Friday or so?
  25. Let me know and I'll be right over... FYI, I really think it's a great idea to put a garage together and open it up to people who need to work on cars. My biggest challenge moving to Seattle is finding places to work on the car. We are buying a place with a pretty small garage so my shop will be minimal. Challenge will be to make it pay for itself. If there were enough guys getting together maybe we could create a club with a shop.
