  2. Datsun Spirit is one of two shops I would really consider if I was looking for outside help. the other being Rebello. I would lean toward Datsun Spirit mainly because it's East Coast and closer, Eiji is very nice and Guy (Dizeased) speaks very highly of him..
  3. Thanks - I've had Datsun Spirit in the back of my mind if all local options failed, would be great aside from the distance/shipping hassle. For the differential, I found a local shop that specializes in drive train work looking at it now. Tranny and engine work are a bit further down the road, time-wise, but if I can't find local options I might check out Datsun Spirit.

  5. The car is only showing 53K miles, assuming there is at least a "1" in front of that. Bought the car in 1990-ish, so who knows how many miles were put on it during the first 20 years. Heavy leakage on the diff, mostly around the vent on top. Tranny's probably ok, don't recall any issues when it got garaged in 1993. The engine has a known failure, the extent of which is yet to be determined. I came out of work one day, started it up, there was a loud bang, the oil pressure went to zero, and that's when it got towed to the garage where it sat until 2014. It's possible that there isn't much that needs to be rebuilt - given that I have all the mechanicals out of the car, and I'm doing a major refresh on everything, it doesn't make sense to not have someone at least go through them and attend to any issues before reinstalling them.
  6. Curious, are they all needing rebuilt because .... I can see you doing the engine, maybe, but just fluid changes on the tranny and rear end, unless there was crazy mileage. Heck I had a Z with 250k that had the original rear end and auto tranny. Guy said he drove all over the country many, many times.
  7. In the process of getting a 1971 240 back on the road after a 24-year sleep, and I'm looking for shops to do a differential rebuild, tranny rebuild, engine block/head work. Massachusetts area preferred, but would travel anywhere in the northeast area. Datsun specialty/experience would be a bonus, of course. Thanks!

  9. Hi! If anyone can give me the name and phone number of a Mechanic who specializes in the 240-280 Z, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have two Z's that I'd love to get back in top condition. My very close friend was a Z specialist and sadly passed away a year and a half ago. I've been searching for a good mechanic hopefully in the Monmouth or Ocean County NJ area to help me solve an electrical problem in my 280 and to go over my 240 so I can run it once in a while. They've both been sitting for two years in my garage and I know that's not a good thing to just start them up. Thank you for your help! I was given a Mechanic's name in North Jersey I'm just hoping to find someone closer if possible.

Good Z mechanic in Hunterdon new jersey

Sent a PM to you. I used to live in Ringoes.
  11. Does anybody know a good 300ZX GS 5 speed mechanic that lives in Hunterdon county New Jersey. Want him to look over the car. Only has 74K miles and is in great shape. It came from California, no rust.
  12. $30 is home run if they're from a Z...
  13. He said they came off a 240z and he had some random other Datsun bits with them. If they aren't, the $30 I spent won't kill me.
  14. Are you sure the SU's you purchased are for a Datsun? Also what size are the bores? There are multiple Datsuns that ran SU's in different sizes and other cars that ran the SU design also...
  15. Picked up some SUs cheep from a Volvo parts vendor! Anyone know how we're supposed to post photographs (I.e. Is there a particular gallery or thread)?

Yeah, I'm unfortunately in the same boat. If it was going to be a little rain, or just a chance of rain for a short period of time, that would be different. But the current forecast looks pretty wet, and I don't want to subject my not rusty Z to all that water. I guess I'll keep tabs on the details, but at this point, it looks like I'm probably going to pass.

Looks like rain for 8 hours, as of this afternoon. I'll probably decide at the last minute. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I took a look through the pics I've taken in the past, and everything is micro instead of macro. In other words, I've got close-up pics or wiring harnesses and ignition coils, but nothing of the show field. I'm guessing maybe twenty first gens?

Cool. What kind of turnout should I expect? Are we talking like three S30s or 100?

I'm planning to attend. Been there the past few years. A little further for you than for me. If you do decide to go, get in touch beforehand so we can be sure to find each other at the show.

    Caffeine & Octane: August 2015

I fixed the sharing issue with the photos. Jai - Caffeine & Octane is a free monthly car show on the first Sunday of the month. Costs are paid for by sponsors. According to a Facebook post by the C&O people, there were about 2,500 cars today.
