  1. First of all I only comment on what interests me so covering everything Nissan is left to the self appointed expert who trolls around here. Secondly by referring to a near stock racing Z it should be obvious that I was referring to the SCCA series and not a highly modified Japan only Z.. Pray tell, is trolling me good for you, you seem to try hard to put me down but fail every time. But don't stop trying, it's amusing.
  2. Nissan making a big deal of the new Z to be raced in the GT500 series yet it's not a real Z. Check this, a two litre turbo engine with sequential transmission and a special chassis. What is this race series going to tell us about the new Z? Nothing, absolutely nothing. What lala land do Nissan live in, the original racing Z, that they are riding on the back of, was basically a stock Z!!
  3. Is your yellow Z the one with a Les Collins engine?
  4. Wonder what the thinking was with the big hang overs front and rear. Was it something to do with aero leverage? If so it would result in sensitive aero setups due to that leverage.
  5. The back end looks great, the front not so much. See Chip Foose's rendition which is mostly a bit impractical but he nails the headlights, not the concept but their placement and fitment into the body.
  6. Interesting but it looks like I'm the only one .... interested.
  7. With potential buyers being able to put down a refundable deposit Nissan needs to make road test Z's available now. A potential buyer is currently well informed as to what they will get except for knowing how it drives.
  8. My ambiguous. Of course plenty of 370Z's were raced but to my knowledge they were never competitive at the top end. Most of the top end makes were more expensive but comparable in engine capacity. Money spent was not the problem, it boiled down to inferior mechanical grip and chuckability, to use a technical description.
  9. Pfffft to what it looks like, the thing is it uses the 370Z structure and that car never made on the track. So have Nissan kidnapped some chassis experts to sort the thing out with some better grip controllable on the limit and comparable with the Euros? This would not cost a lot of money just a determination to do it right like they did in 1969.
  10. Some BRE tweaked metal in action in Australia at my local circuit, ripper video. It's the first BRE customer car built after the three race cars.
  11. Did a bit of research and it seems that the 400 will use a modified 370Z chassis and suspension, surprise surprise, not. Let's just hope that they have knocked some weight out of it without losing rigidity and have improved the suspension because I followed closely a couple of 370Z's that were sensibly with money prepared for racing but never made it. Basically too heavy for the mechanical grip they were able to generate.
  12. One essential part which does not seem to be discussed at all is the chassis/suspension, something which is crucial to real performance on a circuit. Just look at the 370Z, it had adequate power but never made it on the race track because others handled better. Unfortunately the 400 looks like it uses a parts bin chassis and suspension unlike the S30 which resulted in a car that still gets raced successfully today. Without a potential racing history the 400 will just be another sports car which has to compete on price, power and appearance, all of which are market variables that change regularly and lead quickly to a market failure of one car or another.
  13. Bob Jane T mart is still in business, he may have dragged that car but he was more into circuit racing.
