Slooooooowwwwww first open. The site.

Recommended Posts

Anybody else noticing a very very very long time to open the page when first getting on?  Seems normal after it loads, like it's loading a whole ton of background stuff first.  It must be loading something because the page doesn't time-out.  It just takes forever to open.

Coincidentally....

Didn't happen for me either, this time, thankfully.  I haven't been working on the server so please let me know if it happens again.

Almost unusable today.  The spinning circle just spins and nothing happens, while I go out and look at other web pages.  Happens in Firefox too, I'm on Chrome now.

It's only CZCC, since yesterday.  After I get signed in it seems fairly normal, but I don't stay signed in and I'm often on a home computer.  Maybe it's optimized for mobile users who stay signed in.

What happens if you log out and shut down your browser then restart?

I use Incognito so that all of the cookies get dumped when I shut down the browser.  It makes a difference in overall speed, those cookies get heavy when you get a bunch of them.  Maybe it's the cookies.

All I know is that for a typical sit-down here, I run through my usual information sites before CZCC even opens, often, since yesterday.  It'll be worse when the weather gets better.

I just got the forever spinner again even though I'm logged in and haven't shut anything down.

Could be just my computer but I doubt it.  If you're on the edge as far as visits you might just decide CZCC is too slow to click on.  It should show up in the stats so I'm only setting the start mark.  5/1/17.  Maybe it's the anarchists.

My computer got tired of waiting so it brought up this primitive sign in page.  Now that I'm in it seems normal.  The \discover\20 page and the sign-in page are the problem pages.

Works for me too.  Running Chrome.

Zed, do you have any blockers running?  That could impact the site.

It does it in Firefox also, no blockers.  Still doing it today.  Maybe one of the other Z sites installed some malware.

If anyone's been reading the news lately you can see why people run blockers.  No need to restart the "just submit and life will be better" discussion.

I just downloaded Firefox on my other PC and tried it.  No problems using stock installation.  Zed, can you provide steps to reproduce the problem?  I can give it a try to see if  I can reproduce it.

Not much I can tell you.  Everything's been hunky-dory, I haven't changed anything on my system for months.  Still great on other sites.  I had a bookmark set to the 24 hours page and it just started not-loading.  Other sites load up fine while the wheel is spinning on CZCC.com.  I made the coincidentally remark because you haven't been around for quite a while and you showed up on the day it started it happening.  Thought maybe you made some changes.

I have the bookmark set to the home page now and it seems to come up slightly faster.  The sign-in page still takes a long time and defaults to the page with no "extras" like I showed above.

If it's just me, not a big deal.  Just thought it might be  a bigger problem.  Good luck.

Here's a post from a plain old vanilla Chrome window, not Incogntio, no add-ins or plug-ins.  It took longer than the Incognito window to load up, each page, even opening the Comment window, took a long long time.

I don't have any add-ons or plug-ins on my Incognito windows either.  Who knows, maybe the security on your site is so good it's catching malware that the other sites aren't.  Maybe it's my computer that's the problem.  It's completely up to date though on Windows, and Defender scans.  No signs of a problem.

I turned off real time protection n Windows Defender and the site loads up quickly, and sign-in is easy.

Don't mean to disparage the site.  But I wasn't able to even open a CZCC page this morning.  I blasted through several pages to this comment as soon as I turned off real time protection.  Could be over-protection, but it's only CZCC.

By the way, the other Zeus scam I mentioned in an email was still popping up without any CZCC page attempts.  So that looks separate from CZCC.

I'll turn real time protection back on and see if it locks me out again.  If it's nothing but my computer, it's still entertaining.

Not so sure about Defender now.  I closed the window and reopened another with real-time still off and the spinning wheel came back.  Something on my computer doesn't like CZCC.  Carry on...

Oddly, since I tried my little experiment I've been buzzing around from thread to thread with no problems, with real-time protection on again.  Makes me think that CZCC got ID'ed as some sort of suspicious web site or has some suspicious software that got re-ID'ed when I let it through.  Who knows.  See how long this lasts.

Got stuck again and turned off real-time.  Got through, signed in, but had to wait for this topic to open.

Mainly using this a s a log of fix attempts now.  Maybe somebody knows something...

Don't know if this is pertinent or not, knowing very little about computers and the web. (My kids and I trade labor on computer and car stuff.) When I try using czcc.com, ( Which I seem to remember doing in the past, I normally stay logged in) I now get a 403 forbidden. Classiczcar.com works just fine. Regardless, I don't ever remember getting a

"403 Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internet Server Error was encountered while trying to use an Error Document to handle the request."

This anomaly seems to have popped up recently. Don't know exactly when. Hope this is a clue to your gremlin.

Now that I'm signed in and roaming around, it seems normal.  It's the first sign-in that is a problem.  Seems to be a conflict with Windows Defender.  More later...

I actually use the full www.classiczcars.com, not CZCC.  I just used CZCC as short-hand.  I'll quit doing that since it's a real thing.  Didn't know that.

The weird thing is the connection to Windows Defender.  Defender is supposed to notify if there's a problem.  I don't get a notification, just a really long delay in loading, leading to the program on the supply side defaulting to a basic primitive format.  Like it's getting blocked in loading something.  But when I turn off Defender and get signed in, I can then move around the site normally when I turn Defender back on.  Like whatever needed to load got in and Defender can't block it anymore.  I'll find out when I try again with Defender on.

Not a car thing, just another puzzle.

Closed my browser (Chrome) and re-opened with Defender real time protection on.  classiczcars.com just spun a wheel for a solid three minutes, while I browsed around on other web sites.  Turned off "real-time" and classiczcars.com loaded up and here I am.  So it seems to definitely be that classiczcars, com is trying to load something that Defender is stopping, and the site won't open until that thing is installed.

I use Chrome Incognito, to automatically delete cookies and tracking data when the browser is closed, just for the privacy principle and also for speed.  Probably why other people don't see the problem, they use the normal browser mode, that keeps all of that old tracking data and cookies, so it's already there when they get back on.

At least I know how to get back on.  Don't know what special cookies or software classiczcars.com is loading that other sites don't. No need to discuss, it's everywhere.

Forgot to say that I feel kind of like Richard Sherman telling a wide receiver that he drops his shoulder before he make his cut.  Anyway...

For what it's worth - my disabling Defender trick stopped working.  But I've found that if I use the Sign In box at the end of a thread, at the bottom of the page, instead of the one at the top of the page, I can get in.  Yesterday for a short while I could sign in and roam around without any special tricks at all.
