Too big and old for Z

I recently got my girl (3-71 240z) back on the road and after about a month and 1k miles, I'm wondering if this is the car for me.

My question her is if I decide to sell her, how much should I ask?

The body was completely reworked and painted, motor, trans, and carbs have been rebuilt. New windshield, clutch, master and slave. New brakes all around. All built to stock, with the exception of a modern alt, and headlight harness upgrade.

Hi Yakhopper, to add pics you'll have to click on the option toward the bottom right "More Reply Options"... from there you can click on Attach Files.  There's a button that let's you choose your files from your local computer.

I'm probably as far from an authority on this kind of stuff as can be, but I spent several months scouring ebay, craigslist and the like in southern CA looking for cars.  Any good looking 240z that was around $7,500 or less was getting snatched up almost immediately.  $15,000ish seemed to be the neighborhood that many people with well-restored (based on pictures, at least) cars were looking to get, but I saw a lot of those cars linger for some time before disappearing.

 

Anecdotally, and probably not news to you, but it sure seems like interest in the Z cars is on the upswing right now though, so if you don't need to sell it, the car may well appreciate in the near term.

Wow! Nice Z. I too am not any type of authority, but just going through the purchasing process I feel that I can chime in here. FYI - I do not know anything more then what the pictures tell me, so take this with a grain of salt; I think that you could easily get 12,500 for you Z. More if you posted it on Ebay and let the masses fight for it. You'd have to deal with fees, though. If you posted on Craigslist, after a lot of BS, you'd probably get about 12 for it. If I was you, I'd post it on Ebay as they have a world wide audience, if you're willing to deal with shipping - which you don't have to do a thing about other then be home for the shipper. It's a nice Z. I ended up finding a later z in equal condition, from what I can tell, for half the price. That doesn't mean a thing though. There are deals still to be made. And there are still expensive Z's. Finding the right buyer is what it is all about. Good luck!

A dozen + is the averaged coin these days on a Z in this condition, more coin for better ones with performance upgrades. The days of cheap Z`s are gone.

That looks a lovely Z, I would suggest ebay too as a global audience is available and you're selling price would undoubtably be higher, I'm importing a restored 72 240Z at the moment into the UK and paid double what the guys are suggesting here, plus shipping, import duty etc, there are only about 165 240's here in the UK and the prices are going up dramatically, my friend is importing one from Australia and he's paying £25K GBP, there's definateley a market in Europe, there's a website similar to Hemmings called ' Pistonheads' here in the UK and its popular all over Europe, that would be worth a try, ps shipping for me was around $1800, collection from WA to LA then shipping to the UK, good luck!

I would also try Ebay for the wide coverage. Just be careful, no shipping and no title until funds are delivered and verified. I have sold cars to Europe before and most buyers understand the process. Someone who won't deal with your terms is either ignorant or a scammer. I have heard of people losing their cars to scammers because the funds came back bad.

Being in Fresno, Craigslist is a great option.  I don't imagine you have a big pool of local buyers, but being right between LA and the Bay Area opens up both of those markets while being far enough away to not have to deal with tire kickers.
