The Bricklin SV1 that started as a joke after a few beers on Ebay

Recommended Posts

One night me and a friend where talking after work with a few beers about the Bricklin SV1 that was in the show Gas Monkey garage. We thought what a cool car, and after some beers went searching on Ebay just for fun ( at first ), and found 2 ( none now ). One in New York..

The guy asked 6.5 k and for fun we said let's try 3k... ( still just for fun not serious buying ) after 30 minutes we got a response back and we had to buy the car LOL !

Then adventure began taking it home, after a long wait.. this is what we got !  It's " pretty " rare .. about 5 or 6 in Europe here according to Wiki, well this might be number 6.

We managed to get everything running, and it's going for road worthy check coming thursday !

People call the DeLorean special, but this was 10 years before the DeLorean ! And it's doors are operated pneumatic instead of by hand with the DeLorean !

Just thought share it with you guys..

For those of you that think the 280z has battering ram bumpers, take a look at those behemoths.  Does this one have the amc 360 or the 351 windsor?

Definately a more powerful car than the delorean and the body is fiberglass so no rust.  Those tail lites look like 280z tail lites. Not a bad looking car for 3k.

That one may be an ex-police car from arizona.

edit: do NOT mix beer with ebay.

The engine is the 351 windsor. Those bumpers are massive ! But that whole car is build around safety, we had it up the ramps, and it's a very heavy box frame, over that is the acrylic body panels..  SV1 " Safety Vehicle 1 "

Haha yeah do not mix beer with Ebay haha we found that out LOL..

There was a car show several years ago called "Chop, Cut, Rebuild" that found a Bricklin to restore.  It was about 8 or so episodes and had lots of facts and information on how it was developed and made.  The lack of an ash tray was one of the quirks of the car, as none of the designers smoked, but a bean bag ash tray was later offered to the smokers.  At 16, I remember seeing and inspecting one on the show room floor, it was the 'Safety Orange" color that the majority were made, IIRC.

The Bricklin SV1 was made here in New Brunswick. I can understand if you have never heard of New Brunswick as it is a poor province in eastern Canada with a total population of ~750K. Our Premier at the time, Richard Hatfield, otherwise known as ,'Tricky d***', had a dream about building this automotive amalgam. d*** has since departed this world but the memory and tax payer's pain lives on!!

All that said, I hope you enjoy your new ride.

Cheers,

George

How do you get out of the car if you roll the car and it lands on the top? gullwing doors don't open when the car is sitting on them.

slap a paint job on it and put it up for sale at the going prices. Looks to be around 17,000 usd.
