240z spray bar + sealant?

I had to remove the cam oiler/spray bar to fix a wonky rocker arm on my new-to-me '72. It looked like there was a silicone sealer between the bar and cam towers. Manuals don't seem to address any type of gasket or goo at these contact points and I don't see a definitive answer in previous, similar threads. Other than using as little of something as possible, is there consensus on whether or not and what product would be best? Not making any mods at the moment, just trying to get her runnin' :)

The gaskets "packing" #20 on that diagram seal the lids to the distribution blocks, not the blocks to the cam towers.

I don't know if they originally came with a gasket between the towers and the blocks, but I'd put one in. I'd use gasket material though instead of RTV because I think it would be more forgiving to the vibration? All of the blocks I've messed with had been chewed up a little on the back side from vibration against the towers.

I don't know what 72 used but my 76 spray bar had a paper gasket between each spray bar block and its cam tower. Looked stock, by the shape and the cut edges. I was just looking at it the other day. I think that it might also show up on the carpartsmanual site.

But any sealing method would probably work. It's not a tight tolerance piece, any way you look at it.

I remember the same gasket between the spray bar and cam towers on my 1971 . It was definately factory. However, if my aged memory serves me correct that gasket was not available separetley. It only came with a new Spary Bar. Had to install a new one on my 71 240z and I remember that the new Spary Bar came with the gaskets already glued on.
