Noddles Front Brake Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been wanting to do this for ages , I special ordered these blank rotors from DBA and they have been sitting in my spare room for a few years now.

and now I have some time, the weathers getting nice ( no shed to work in though ), and I found a small engineering firm,

the spacers between the hub and rotors, the enlargement of the center hole for the rotor, and the caliper spacers, all came to $50, not to bad I thought.

Hi,

Another beautiful day, so good weather to finish my brake upgrade.

Originally I left the 3/4 Master cylinder on, Brake worked fine, soft pedal, but a lot of travel, probably 3/4 way to the floor,

So I went to put a 7/8 master cylinder on, of course this would not fit the brake booster, the 4 bolts have a different spacing.

So I compared this to my part part '73 four door, different brake booster ( my 4 door was a little larger than what's on the 2 door),

So I swap this out from the 4 door, fitted the 7/8 master cylinder, brakes work really good, pedal still soft, but only travels about a inch or so,

So, can someone tell me , which is the original brake booster for a '73 model, from these pictures ?

Not sure if it matters, but the 4 door has the 250mm rotors, and the 2 door has the 270 mm rotors

Hi Noodle, what calipers are they, and what RDA discs are they, if you dont mind me asking?

Adam

Sorry for the later reply,

Calipers are Toyota S13WB ( 4 runner from memory, each caliper had, 4 x 45mm pistons )

Rotors, were special order DBA425USL & DBA425USR ( they did not have the stud holes drilled / blank )
