Right off the bat, lets admit they are not the best diecasts on the market but still pretty good for the money (they should retail for $30.00 or less). Sunstar made some obvious errors in creating these models. First off, the car has 1972 plates on it front and back and they are available in SILVER, ORANGE and BLACK. Yes, BLACK. Even though Nissan never made a black 240Z (first year for black was on the 1978 280Z), Sunstar does. These were originally supposed to be released in ORANGE, WHITE and DARK BLUE but Sunstar obviously made some last minute changes.
The first thing that I noticed was there is no rear defroster lines on the rear window. It's listed as "standard" on the window sticker of my '75 280Z and I thought it was always standard equipment (Kyosho has them on their 240Z versions). The rear and side window "glass" (plastic) has some very obvious attachment points that you can plainly see from the outside of the car. The models also come equipped with Raydot-style mirrors on both front doors and they're painted the color of the car (at least on the SILVER and BLACK ones-I don‘t have an orange one yet). Not a picture perfect Z car so far....
The Datsun emblem (sticker) on the front fender looks washed out on the SILVER car, but very sharp on the BLACK one. Also the rain gutter and chrome trim around the windows looks fairly dull and not very "chrome-like" at all. The interior doesn't have "carpet" like the Kyosho Z car diecasts do, but the Kyosho version is about twice the price. I also think the green house height is a bit shorter than it should be, so the proportions look just a little off (unless you like a chop-top look). The paint job is okay, but has a few blemishes here and there.
The engine detail is okay. The block and head are colored light blue with the same "non-chrome" look for the valve cover and carbs. It has a nice orange air cleaner and various black parts (distributor, hoses, oil cap, etc) with some other painted highlights.
Overall, it's not as well detailed or assembled as a Franklin Mint or Kyosho 240Z but still very nice for the price. Whatever you do, DON'T pay over $30.00 for one. If you want to buy a Z for more than that, step up to the Kyosho 1:18 versions which I feel are much better (about $55.00 to $60.00 retail). As a bonus, the Kyosho versions are 1970 240Z cars with the vents on the rear hatch and you can get them in USA, Fairlady, G-nose and 432 (VERY cool cross flow head) versions.

Cons:

could have more detail in the interior

This makes for a great gift/ add on to any Z car/ diecast collector! I wouldn't rate it to be super detailed and perfect, but I wouldn't rate it poor. The interior and engine compartment are not all that detailed, not as much as I'd say the exterior is. The steering wheel on mine was not set on right and is off to the right when the wheels are set straight, so you may expect to get it that way. I think I bought mine for around $25.00 -$30.00 for mine. In any case, when you get it, I really don't think you will be dissapointed with it.
