Guess what ... :) Yep the day has came, the day when a young man meets a beautiful lady and that beautiful lady is my Lady Z ...hehe I got one I put a down payment of $1100 and the finished payment will be on friday and I will have the car next week or the week after. ( To give me time to clear the garage)
The car I posted a couple of days ago that I didnt want I do now it is mine it is in Great condition and the engine runs really clean. It has the twice pipes exhaust sounds kinda loud, but I love it. The car's color is 303 emerald green I believe I'll know for sure once I look at the paint code.Oh yea and it has its original radio and it works
Heres a couple recent pics.....Last edited by KenshinX; 07-24-2006 at 06:21 PM.

Early 260. You'll have to change the car in your sigunature now. Looks good like much of the body work's been done. 77-78 280Z hood, and a similar air dam to the one on my car. Don't know if the 303 paint code made it to 74.

More pics and more info the dash has the infamous crack down the middle but other than that its perfect.the interior is good for what it is. The car has only a litlle surface rust and most of that has been cleared by the seller before i bought the car ( the silver primed spots all over the car) The hood has been test painted and it has decent wheels to me for a start as I work on the car. The tires are almost new and the engine is clean the headvalve cover just needs to be crome'd
.
The tranny was swapped to a 84 200sx tranny and is smoth as a babies botton my dad drove her to test her seeing as I didnt want to hurt the lady before I bought her...im alittle sticky with shifting right now. Shock towers valance fender floor pans (although a little dented) trunk area and frame rails are all clear of rust.Project: 1974 RLS30-012443 260z 11/'73 - Admiring her beauty now...

Take a rubber mallet to that floor and you can probably straighten most of that out, except maybe right where the frame rail is.

Your signature should read: 1974 RLS30 not HLS30 since it's a 260Z. I see that it's already been converted to round tops, has a large aftermarket fuel filter, flex fan and adjustable front camber plates from what I can see. Is it an L26 or has it been changed?

I'm not sure, but im definilty going to look into it. Its funny how as soon as my dad heard that I wanted a Datsun he couldn't believe it he though I was joking, but once he realised that I was serious. Ever since then he's started going on and on about what we could do with the car( He is a Car Man that is his profession its what he loves) like droppin a small block in her ( not what i want) or adding superchargers. Upgrading the camshaft and addin big wheels and finders ( which would be nice but definitly not me)

Ken, looks like you got a great start on the Z. You can drive her around and have loads of fun, while upgrading a little at a time. Good pick. Rust in normal areas looks minimal. Good find

Congrats Ken. Good to see you finally get a ride. It looks to be in very good condition for the most part. Don't tear it apart right away. Fix the things that need fixin' and drive it for a while before you start getting anal about everything and tear it apart.

Do you have dual exhaust pipes down there? (post 3, photos on the far left/right)
Looks to me like there are.
Funny, since this thread seems to coincide...

Enigma-
Of course, of course I want to get to know the lady be for I put my hands on her; But on a serious note I really need to practice my shifting skills I know how a little bit, I just need to get use to the Z's unique pattern.
ZBane- It has the twice pipes set up it looks like the one off MSA(not sure tho).
I dont think its like the one in the thread you posted, aren't those the dual exhaust that has a pipe on both sides? Eitherway its a bit loud, but it sounds great (I just love that old car sound).
Thanks guys for all the information you have fed me I mean i didnt know crap about Z's I didnt even know a 260z existed 4 months ago (
now I own one; I still dont know jack about Z's, but jack is more than crap). Without this site I probably would have wound up with a Z in way worse condition or even that Z that I saw in nothern virginia that was on ebay; the Rust bucket. Anyway thanks guys and Mike the Site admin. for creating this environment also known as the Z forums. Last edited by KenshinX; 07-26-2006 at 05:26 AM.

Unique pattern? What are you talking about? It's a standard 4spd with an H pattern and first in the upper left, isn't it? Or did you somehow luck out and get the special race tranny with 1st on the bottom?

Its a '84 200sx tranny, and what I mean by practicing shifting skills is actually learning how to shift period( I think i said in my first post that I didnt drive her yet my dad did because I'm not too keen on shifting right now, so i have no idea what pattern it goes in and wont be able to find out till next week)...

If it's an 84 200SX tranny I doubt that it would work properly in a Z because it would be slanted to match the 84 200SX engine. If it is a 200SX tranny then it's probably the 'dogleg' type that was in the 77-79 200SX and the 77-80 510 (A10). I have that tranny in my 64 L320. I don't know how good it would be for a Z since it was designed for a L18-L20B 4 cylinder. And the shift pattern would be 'unique' when compared to a Z-ZX 5 speed.

Driving a stick is easy. You'll get the hang of it in no time at all. Starting on a hill when you're learning is the hardest part but can be made much easier by making proper use of the handbrake. I'm sure you'll be banging gears with the rest of us in no time.

You are right about hills( glad we dont visit martinsville anymore one word Hilly)
I dont know maybe the guy left a typo or didnt know what tranny he put in he told me via e-mail and on his ad ( couldn't in person he's in texas) that it was a 200sx tranny and was replaced because the original "I still have the stock transmission pieces, but the synchros were shot. 2nd and 3rd ground. The 5spd I installed I pulled out of a working car I parted out, and I know its in good shape." - Sellers words. Maybe he meant its a 84 300zx or a plain 280zx who knows well find out once we get under the car soon and I'll post some pics.
