240K C110 Coupe Value -- looking to buy Hi Guys,
I’m new to the forum.. I’ve been browsing through the 240k content and there is some good stuff
Looking for some advice / opinions on 240k Coupes..
I’m a Datsun fanatic and I’ve wanted one for a long time now… and I’ve found one..
Just not sure how much money is too much..
It will be around the 7k mark.. and has had all the rust cut out and replaced with new steel.
Body is almost perfectly straight… will just require some final finishing on the body and then some paint.
Its got the standard 2.4ltr engine with matching numbers & an auto trans.. apparently running but surely needing an overhaul.
Interior is all there.. trims are good, seats need retrimming, dash pad cracked.
My plan is to make it look like a GTR.. with the guards, grill, mirrors, wantanabe’s, triple webers etc…
Is it too much for a car that still needs this much work?

We'd need to see some pictures I reckon. It sounds pretty good to me but it all depends on the quality of the body work and how hard they've gone with the work. Bodywork on a car like this could cost up to 10k or so depending on the finish you're after. If the work is good quality they it sounds good to me, you're saving yourself a considerable amount of time.
It also depends on the interior etc, I would hope that it's complete and in pretty good condition.
Chrome work is another thing to look at, particularly the eyebrows and windscreen trims. They are expensive and usually have to come out of Japan.
These cars are getting harder to find all the time but there are still some gems out there, it just takes time! If you can get some pics it would be great.

Ok cool i'll get some pics next time i'm looking at it.
Interior is complete.. but has been sitting around for about 5 years.. the dash pad is cracked.
Seats could benefit from a retrim and some new carpets..
All the chrome trim is straight.. but just needing some polish.
Bars are straight, rear garninsh and front grill are in good nick.
I want to convert it to manual.. i've got a good 5 speed box in my shed from an L28.. so would just need the pedal box.. cylinders etc...
Will the centre console be structurally different? will i need to source a manual centre console for the conversion?

Hi 24ozed,
Welcome to the club. As Adzmax said, buying a car with the majority of the bodywork done will save you a big headache, just make sure that
it is done properly. In regards to the centre console, the Auto and Manual should be the same ( I think ), just collecting all the manual conversion
stuff takes time, I would know as I have just done the same.

Took me a while to get the pedal kit, but a fellow member helped me out, most of the other stuff is from either Ebay or Yahoo Japan. Good Luck,
and lets see some pics.

if the body work is fine and all parts are there its prob worth while. also comes down to how much work u can do yourself really. im doin 99% of work so its only time for me.

Hi, thanks guys! Very helpful.
I should be able to get a pedal box etc no probs.
I'm pretty keen to get it.. So the pics I post up are likely to be of it being loaded onto a trailer..
It's not an ideal time for me as I've got a 240z project car right now too.
I'll be pretty happy to have the pair.. My 2 most favorite cars!
Thanks again fellas !

I spent a great deal getting my cars body work done, has the car been built to fit Flares? This is not a small job.
Only problem with these cars is if you wait, you may not find another one to build later.
Good luck Brad

No flares haven't been fitted yet. I know the work involved in fitting them to the 240z.. I assumed it would be similar?
I've got a bit to think about.. There is no doubt this will sit in the shed until the z is finished.. Which I'm hoping by the end of the year .. (but I said that last year too !)

Hi Guys, i decided on getting the car today.
The fella who i'm buying it off does restorations and is a star when it comes to metal fabrication.
He'll be finishing off the body for me as part of the deal so it will be ready for paint when he's done.
At this stage the car should be ready for me to pickup in about 4 - 6 months.
I'll take some pics when the car is out in the open, i'm very happy with my purchase and the timeframe..
Gives me a chance to collect some parts that i'll be needing for completion.
Cheers for all your input..

Hi Adzmax this is the same car, sorry my first post was a bit of a 'feeler', trying to see what the car in that state would be worth.
The car still needs some body work, but as part of the deal I will take delivery of a complete 240k which has had all the rust removed and just requiring finishing and some paint.
I've seen the guys work and his fabrication skills are amazing, im really looking forward to seeing the car evolve.
The car is in Adelaide (just south of the city) today when i checked the glove box i found the original purchase reciept and service books.. stoked !
