W-W-W-Welcome baaack to WJNC, bringin’ you the best nostalgic tunes and old school jams! Hope you’re enjoying your Fridaaaay! Put on your dancing shoes and crank up the volume, because coming up next we have back-to-back tracks from the Crazy Ken Band! Here’s “Bellet 1600GT”:

Thanks to JNCer JT191 for tipping us off to these videos of the Crazy Ken Band, a Japanese music ensemble that completely rocks the house when signing about old cars. The video above is a live performance of “Bellet 1600GT,” named after Isuzu’s 60s coupe. Their jazzy beats and funky rhythms make us wish Isuzu actually sold the car here in the US so we could jam to this while cruising around in one. Although, we don’t have threads that look nearly fly enough.

Here’s another a cut off their latest album Zero, called “Wangan Sen,” or “Along the Wangan” (For the two people who don’t know, the Wangan is Tokyo’s bayshore route famous for street racers). The video features a Mercury Cougar and a Toyota 2000GT that is shown driving along the Wangan’s Rainbow Bridge in the beginning.

JT191 tells us that the CKB has more automotive-themed music, including “Mustang GT,” “Hemi Hemi Dodge Cruising,” and “GT,” about touring car racing, about the 60’s Ford Mustang. Check out the Crazy Ken Band website and the site for Zero, the new album that Wangan Sen is from.

I can assume the Isuzu Bellet was sold in Canada. I went to high school with a buddy that had one in the early 70's. Even at the time it was rather unique-it is the one and only I have ever seen.
