- Used a pre-made kit from ebay link and a 25' spool of 3/16" coated hard line from NAPA. - ebay kit was just unions and variety of off-the-shelf line sections in standard lengths but actually nice quality line. - did not want to use the unions so for the long run I used one piece of hard line and flared ends. - pre-made kit tube still needed to be cut and flared to optimize length. - used new U clips and flex line washer/stopper parts from Black Dragon - tried two double flare kits Autozone $30 was junk, I did ~20 practice and actual attempts but none were good. The tool had inherent manufacturing flaws. I was so disappointed that I designed a new tool. (TBA). I bo…

Today I started the process to get rid of polyurethane bushings and return to OE-style rubber. First off was the T/C rods using the AC Delco kit another member so kindly identified and available from our friends at RockAuto. A club tech session next weekend will see the rear LCA and steering rack bushings going back to rubber. I am really looking forward to a more civilized ride!

I just installed a set of Z Therapy SU carbs and decided to go with a cold air intake setup. I didn't have any air filters so thought this would be a cool setup. So I bought the air box from Unique Z products (99$) and the Spectre 3 inch chrome covered plastic piping with filter (80$) from O Reilly parts. Very tight fit going thru the 3 inch hole near the radiator. Should have opened that hole up a bit and not scratched one of the pipes. I plan on moving the horn to the other side and rigging up a standoff clamp to go around the pipe.

Hey guys! First off, I was so happy to have received such a warm welcome to classiczcar from my first intro thread. I'm really glad you guys enjoy the car, and I'm going to do my best to keep consistently updating on my progress! So, here's what I did yesterday. (Get ready for a lot of words.) If you didn't read my intro post, you missed some info. Basically, when I brought the car home from Oregon, I was unable to get it back to the Bay Area that same night. I was fortunate enough to be able to leave it at my friend's shop in Sacramento (known online as CAtuned) to be able to work on it until I got the kinks worked out. The first day we went to work, we rebuilt the dual…

I replaced my heater core hoses a few years back with the rubber non braided type. I thought that was it for another 10 years or so but i got a big surprise when i heard a hissing noise and then tons of steam inside the car. This night really sucked. It took me 2 hours to travel 30 miles. It completely drained my radiator and i only had a lunch box with a dr pepper and 2 ice packs. You can't imagine how expensive a tow is at midnight in hawaii. So i improvised. First the dr pepper went in then i poked holes in the ice packs. Its semi liquid but helped a little. 2 mph in the emergency lane and i finally reached a little shopping center and drained some stinky koi pond wa…

My 1970 never had seats when I got it and I have been bumming a spare for a driver seat. Got a set of 96 miata seats from a friend so I decided to finally install them. Pretty straight forward. After modifying the stock mx5 seat brackets to be flat the driver side literally bolted in the stock holes no problem. Passenger side needed new holes drilled 1/2 over from stock location towards trans tunnel but that was it. Overall I really like the feel of them, and the adjustability over stock.

I got tired of fighting that cardboard glovebox liner on my Z, so I made one from aluminum sheet. The purpose was to make one that would come straight out from the front---and---have access panels so I don't have to remove it just to change a bulb on my guages. Turned into an all day project, but what doesn't anymore....

On my 1979 280zx.. I got my new Yokohama tires early this morning, so first thing I did was pile up the wheels in the truck and went and got them put on and balanced. Put them on my car then took a test drive(down driveway and back hah). after that I needed to check and make sure the timing was right on the engine. That took me ALL day, there's no videos that I could find or any kind of guide that made sense. I probably read that section of the 280zx book 5 times before it even made sense to me. The timing was right, I was actually hoping it wasn't. My car wont jump when you push the gas all the way down, It just dies out. So I was hoping that was the problem. After that …
