Hello All, Mart here,I bought a Datsun 280zx slick roof 2+2.. in or around september 2013.. It's a funny story, Always looking for a Datsun z or zx one day Bart (Yes, from bartscooterservice also here on the forum) told me there was a 280zx for sale in a town near his. These days i'm not working anymore because of a accident at work and a later flattening a motorbike against a tree.... But after Bart told me there was a 280zx i wondered if it was still that one i remembered from the '90's when i was at that Nissan sub-dealer for his burglar alarm inspections, i was a service engineer at that time.. It was a blue car put away in 1993-94, in a st…

Hi everyone, I'm going to be looking it an '83 ZX on Saturday. The owner and I have talked, and he says there is this one suspicious spot between the T-tops. Obviously there are signs of repaint work, and the paint appears very thick. Is this probably just cracked paint/filler, with surface rust underneath? Or is there a chance it's worse than that? Thanks! Sarah

Bad Dog Parts has gotten our hands on a set of 280 ZX2+2 NLA set of frame rails and we are in the process of making replacement rails that could be put over existing rails or as a complete replacement. A 2 + 2 ZX rail is only a few inches longer than ones for a coupe so we will be able to make coupe rails as well. Production rails will be made from 13 gauge steel while our prototypes will be made of 16 or 18 gauge to allow for easier trimming during rough fitment. If you are interested in helping us we would be happy to provide you with a free set of "production" rails. We ask that you test fit our prototype rails and report back to us any modifications or changes th…

1979 280ZX coupe I'm having a new windshield installed next week and I need to properly remove the trim before my glass man arrives. I can't find a thing in my FSM. Section BF-16 describes the glass part but says "remove the wipers, front pillar garnishes and windshield garnish". It goes on to say" refer to roof trimming for removal". Thus far and have not located anywhere in my FSM that deals with roof trimming. Any ideas where this can be found in FSM. Can anyone describe how I can remome the metal trim without damaging it?

I'm at a loss as to how the chrome trim piece installs into the new adhesive strip. Anyone done this?

Hello. My name is Andrew. I have in my posession a 1979 280ZX that is rusty and falling apart. (you know so when you're complaining about 'scratching my rust') I am posting this as a help point for body parts. I personally need both front fenders, and possibly new driver's door panel. If you have information, or tips, or complaints, or anything of that nature, please contact me. (or simply reply to this thread). Bear in mind, i am young, and this is my first car ever. Although i am slightly experienced with chevy cars and such, i have never seen a Z car before my own. Thank you.

My z project winding down after 15 months in the body shop. Body work and paint came out great. Every piece of glass, doors, hood, hatch, bumpers, all removed in process. Taken down to bare metal. Kind of a puzzle getting it back together after being apart so long. Now trying to find rubber seals for around the doors. I can't understand why the 79-83 280zx is being neglected as far as reproduction seals and parts in general. There seems to be plenty of demand. Anybody parting out 79-83 with some good rubber around the doors, let me know. Hope to post pics of my z soon. Think you guys are gonna like it. By the way "Black Gold", the hatch I bought from you worked great. I used t…

Hello everyone. I recently inherited my former father-in-law's 1981 280ZX. It's in pretty good shape with a few body dings and dents and very minor rust. I asked my wife what she wants to do to the car and of course she Google searched some pictures and found a few 280Zs and fell in love with that picture. The biggest holdup I see right now is the early 80s bumpers on the ZX. If I can find one, could I put a 280Z bumper onto the ZX? I have no experience in doing a lot of work with cars so in a perfect world, I would love to find something that is easy to swap or bolt on. Also, are there any other shared body parts between the Z and the ZX? I may need to replace some …

So I finally got my engine/drivetrain how I want it, now it's time to make a mockery of auto body work. 1st time prepping/painting a car. I got some booth time and a bit of mentoring for some primer. It's a Bondo machine that's for sure. I'm not trying to win any beauty pageants, just have some fun. I'll be happy if it's a 10 footer. Not much can be worse than it was before.
