Hi all, I've been a lurker here on the site for about a year and I've been a registered user for a few months. I just purchased a '75 280Z (the one in the avatar) from 'Vegas and I'm having it shipped to me here in the Houston area at the end of the week. 1st generation Z ownership has been a longtime dream of mine since I sold my first car, a '77 280Z 2+2, back in 1989 for an '81 280ZX that I hated (no offence, but it was a luxury car with sport styling.) But I have only one problem...I'm stuck in insurance hell!!! I want to insure for more than the NADA or Kelly Blue Book value. And don't start by telling me to look into Hagerty. I looked and they're fine but I'd …

Hi All, Just got my first Z car recently. It's a green 1971 240Z. I just put a 5 speed from a ZX in it added sway bars, strut bars, new wheels and tires, SS brake lines, new performance pads and shoes, updated to electronic ignition, added relay to starter, sealed up the rear hatch with new rubber trim. Will be installing new Tokico illuminas and the eibach progressive springs very soon. On the list of things to do: Add rubber welting to the fender flares Get the paint detailed Install new rear diff mounts Install new shocks and springs Roll the original fenders, under the flares Fix the Speedometer (using iPhone for now) Fix the temp gauge Fix th…

Hello Calssic Z Club: I've been a Z car owner for 25 years now. I purchased my Fairlady in'86 while serving in the military @ Misawa Japan. The car has been garaged for the past ten years, now is the time to do a full restoration. Over the past two months have been purchasing many parts for this resto. Floor pans from Zeddsfindings, frame rails from baddogparts, rocker panels from millssupply. Looking to purchase a set of full rear quarter panels pref a set of new old stock (wishful thinking) if not a set taken of a California or rust free donor car. Any leads on parts would be greatly appreciated. Have been photographing the parts to catalog and document this r…

Well, it's time to show off my beast. I've had it for only a few years, most of that time spent dead or dismembered. It's back to life now and lives for the road. Engine has been overhauled with a moderate cam. '72 intake and exhaust manifolds to match '72 carbs that it came with. While the engine was out, I stripped off the fenders and rebuilt the battery box, the rot in the fenders and under the fenders. I ran out of things to take apart, so I had to paint it and put it back together. The bumpers weren't worth putting back on, so I'll be fabricating new ones. Doug Quammen

Hey all. Just thought I'd take a minute to tell you the story behind my new Baby. When we moved into our current house I noticed that the guy next door had a (901) silver 240Z sitting in the weeds in his "back 40'. After several bench racing sessions over the back fence I mentioned that I'd had 3 240Zs and a 260Z over the last 25 years or so and would love to have another. "I don't want to sell this one 'cause I'm gonna drop a Nissan V-6 in it". Bummer... However, after 4 years of constant but subtle pestering, I get a phone call one afternoon. "Hey Man, you still want this old Z?" Uhhh, YEAH!!! "Tell ya what, if you can pull it outta the mud that's held it captive for th…

Hi, I recently became the owner of a '74 260z. She's in pretty good shape but I am wanting to get her running and looking great. The car is a California car, no rust. I would like do a thorough tune-up and replace the carborator.Considering re-paint and weatherstrips, chrome window trims and possibly the bumpers (even thought the bumpers are really decent). Where is the best source for parts? Any good manuals available? Any info would be appreciated.... Mike

HI all I live in the Mojave Desert, CA. Earlier this month I picked up a '74 260z 2+2 ... Non-op, but I just got it running this weekend It had the stupid flat top carbs so I dropped in a set of 240z bell-top SU's and it fired right up. The rear brake piston on the 260z popped out and seized the shoes against the drum and we trashed the entire assembly getting it off so the car would roll onto the trailer. (seller did not have a good selection of tools) So I'll be disc swapping it since its already trashed on one side. And after that all I need is an air filter and it should drive. Last week I picked up an unsafe '81 280zx that runs and drives but the rear suspension…
