Does anyone have the upper portion of a steering column shroud for a 76 (I don’t know if there are year differences) that they could get a good scan of or if they already have an STL of it, I’m in need of it. I’ve got my original lower that I’ll be scanning and making an STL of it so I can get one 3D printed. I’m planning on doing more scans and creating STLs of as many parts as I can. I’m using the PolyCAM app on my phone.

Hi everyone, I am about ready to start the interior restoration process of the early Series 1, 1970 240z... and I am curious to know if there are going to be any "gotcha!" moments when installing things on the bare painted chassis from the ground up. There are literally no parts on the chassis interior. I've made a list below. If anyone has insight- that's be helpful! 1) I am not sure if I should use some sort of sticky tape to make it removable at some point, or if I should do it how they did it from factory and glue it down. Suggestions? 2) What should the general order of things be? Should I put down the transmission hump pieces firs…

Hey Guys, Looking to get new carpet put in my Z. The rear carpet is specifically giving me trouble. My car has the special "raised" deck, which I don't know if that makes a difference. Anyways I was wondering what company makes the most original looking carpets for these cars. In addition, does anyone know if I can get new carpet to work with these straps? I am not sure if they are original or not, but they are a cool feature, just unfortunately sewn into the carpet. Getting tired of looking at this faded, dusty, torn and ratty rear carpet. Thank you in advance!

The heater in my 77 always blew hot regardless of where I put the temperature slider and I tracked the problem down to a faulty water **** valve under the dash. I had the capillary style valve (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread46448.html) and spent a little time looking into a direct replacement, but after spending that kind of "quality time" working under the dash, I decided that I never wanted to go through that again. So I changed over to a ubiquitous newer style water control valve which I relocated up in the engine compartment instead of under the dash. I grabbed a bunch of different valves from the junkyard from various Honda and Toyota products, trying to …

Has anyone repaired a domelight? I have 2 of them in pieces, the arm that holds the switch together snapped off, perhaps a more modern push button switch can be installed into the same position? I lost the spring that is used in the OEM switch, it must have walked off my desk at some point 😞 One of the metal tracks looks like it heated up real good, the plastic looks melted where it contacts the strip 😞

Since it's been rainy all weekend I've been working inside on vinyl covering for the all-plastic 280Z hatch area panels. Closed cell foam to replace the old foam padding. added a canvas edging where the hatch inner panel sits against the opening - I don't like that one can see the mount hardware & gap between the inside of the glass & the trim, hopefully this will fill it undecided on covering the 1/4 glass trim, so many curves it will be a PITA to cover closed cell foam on the lamp access covers roof hatch trim tail lamp cover panel left rear hatch area panel. The right side is going t…

We had a deluge here last night. When I checked the car this afternoon, it was obvious water had got into the car, but I can't be sure where to look for the source. There are no stains on the inner roof trim that would indicate the passage of water, however most of the wet area was along the lip behind the seats, down into the pockets and from there out onto the floor pans. I had a box sitting on the ledge and it obviously absorbed an amount of water. This pic was after I mopped up the water by the ridge. Any specific places I should be looking? I have a new hatch seal I will be installing anyway, but I don't see how a hatch seal would cause water to drop so far forw…

I was redoing my '74 260z interior in leather and so far have the seats, door panels, and center console completed. The problem is that my supplier, J-F Customs in the UK, sent a dashboard cover that I think is for a 240z. The most apparent issue is that the ignition switch hole was moved lower a few inches lower in the 260z. A 240z owner on this site has successfully used J-F so I figured I was safe buying it. J-F Customs has been responding to my e-mails that they are designing the correct cover for my dash but that's been going on now for weeks. Now they don't respond at all. Where I can use help is that I'd like a local leather smith to replace the panel t…

Hey guys, Feel free to educate me on what these two knobs are actually called, but I can't seem to get them off. I am replacing the dash pad/getting the frame powder coated. The last thing holding me back are these two mechanisms from being removed. Thanks as always

I am finishing up a full restomod on a 280z. I modified the floor pans and tunnel in several areas and also removed the seat braces so I can't use a standard carpet kit. I'm planning to get a roll of carpet and install myself. The hatch piece I can use a pre-cut standard product from a vendor. Since the carpet won't be molded, it will be a little tricky. I'll likely have to use heat and water to get it to conform. I much prefer the look of carpet on the transmission tunnel vs vinyl. My current plan is to have 3 separate pieces: 2 for each floor, and one for the transmission tunnel. Since the pieces will be separate, there wi…

I was cleaning up this ignition switch and one of the two wires broke off from the switch body. I attempted to pry loose the black plastic cover where the wire connects to the main body of the switch, but it just felt like if I kept "persuading" it that I was going to break the cover. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I might get this wire reattached?

I may have a line on a used dashboard which hopefully is in acceptable condition for the Z restoration I'm currently working on. Looks like there are three versions of dashes for the S30's over the years, however from 1974 to 1978 they all have the same dash. Could someone with knowledge of dash versions confirm if this is correct please? Thanks, Jim
