I know that most of you will think Im crazy but I want to add ac to my z. It is mostly stock except for headers and exhaust, along with brake and susp upgrades. When I had my z in the mid 70s the first thing I did was take off the ac. At the time I was living in SoCal and it wasnt missed. Now years later I live in south Georgia and last year bought this 71 z . It is so hot and humid a cant drive/enjoy the car during the hot summer. I have been unable to find an aftermarket or orig kit to fit my car. Motorsports had one in the past but is currently unavailable. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Took my fan housing off to get to the heater **** and found the housing all rusted out at the fresh air intake and flap. Looked at some on Fleabay and found some that looked like they only had one wire connector to assemble. Mine has 2 connectors. Is there a difference between AC and non-AC fan housings?

head phones off, skip around its pretty long. Just wanted to show that the factory sys does work well, just cause its old does not mean it has to be replaced with an aftermarket unit.

When I select vent on panel the heat comes on. All vacuum lines have been replaced. I have traced the problem to under the dash heat/control panel. When I touch the vacuum selector valve it will cause other AC/ defrost / heat doors to open. Is there anybody that has one of these valves? Can’t find one anywhere. Thanks, Tracy

Hi all, My AC system is stock or at least what I been told. Always use R12 and haven't converted to R134 yet. The fitments on the compressor still R12. Not like the R134a where one is bigger than the other and sometime caps color coded. I read online, forums, including this one and seem like people stating that R134a can be run on R12 system provided flush all refrigerant, new fitments, run not as cool as R12, high pressure.... Knowing R12 is no longer available or at least at authorized AC shop. The dilemma I have is that I'd like to keep the car as stock as possible. Which lead to parts hard to find and sometime impossible. Seem like there is a…

Found the source of that sweet smell in the cabin. Looks like these two hoses are the culprit. I'm having a hard time finding the part numbers on zcarsource and on the cooling system section on the fsm. Can anyone point me to the right direction. I don't need to have the braided hoses, rubber is just fine. Is this one of the hoses? https://zcarsource.com/heater-hose-transfer-on-heater-inlet-260z-280z-74-78-new Also, after finding that leak, I decided to wipe the car down. Found out that something fell on the hood while in the garage and just wrecked the paint. It was not a good day.

hey guys, my 1977 Z is under the knife again, this time for a complete interior restoration. Currently I am doing a full rebuild of the HVAC unit inside the dash down to the bolt. (AC box, heater box, climate control module, etc). I have everything apart and have a plan for pretty much everything except the heater core/vacuum water **** and the temperature control water ****( apologies if this is not those valves actual names). As you can see my vacuum water valve was leaking bad (I actually previously capped off the heater core from the engine bay due to this) and everything just looks old and corroded, and shouldn't be left unadressed. Anyways it is…

Greeting folks Not sure if this belong to Heat & AC or Engine & powertrain ... Here goes My radiator was serviced couple of months ago due to some minor leak at the top of the radiator. The shop need to open up the entire top cover of the radiator to do a fix... They recommended to flush, and remove all of the build up over the year. The fee for the job is about the same if I were to buy the new aluminum 3 rows radiator. However, I like the stock looking and it also 3 rows radiator, so I agree with the job. This is couple of months back before the summer. All seem to be working well. Recently, I notice the fan clutch engaged too fre…

Hi guys, Figured I'd keep both in here instead of making two posts. #1: It seems my 'mode (heater) door' is not closing fully. When I look under the dash via the driver side footwell, i can see that the mode-door's vacuum pod is fully closed (down/retracted/no vacuum to the pod) when "vent" or AC is selected, I still can feel a little bit of hot air coming out from the hot air vent under the dash. Is there a way to fix this or are they all like that? #2: Is there a way on an s30 to get recirculating air rather than strictly vent? The reason I'd like this is that when the AC is running, it is pulling/cooling air from inside the cabin but when I switch the…

I've got a 72 Z that came with just about every dealer option they offered back then, including an a/c system from Frigiking. I almost have the complete original system on the car, including all the under dash plumbing, switches, dryer, etc. However, I am missing the compressor, compressor mounting bracket, and the condenser is sitting in the back of the car. My question is what should I do to get the a/c working on the car? should I just get a compressor and condenser? Can a condenser be cleaned and reused? Or should I junk the system and get a new kit? I know that the a/c discussion for these cars have been talked about a ton, I just thought my situation was a bit diffe…

Is there any difference between the 27105-E4401 heater box that I pulled from my 07/71, and the 27105-E8801 heater box that I've seen advertised for sale? The microfiche doesn’t even list the E4401 heater box, just the E8801 variety for all years of the 240. I’m guessing someone else has run into this - just want to make sure there aren’t any fitment or functional differences if I replace my E4401 with an E8801.
