rear hatch interchange will a 240z hatch fit a 78 280z? I need to replace my rusted out one and have a potential replacement with vertical defrost wires.

Yes, the hatches on 70-78's are interchangeable.

Series one hatches will fit but have the vents in the hatch which would not be correct. Series two cars would be fine, HTH, Richard.

240 hatches do not have the two M6x1 threaded mounting holes on the passenger side of the hatch for the support strut either. Depends on whether your driver side one is in good enough shape to hold up the hatch. Might have to drill and use use two LARGE sheet metal screws to attach it. Use the drivers side for a location pattern. Other than that, its good to go.
